<p>It's a joke. Let me put it differently. Do YOU think you have a shot at MIT? What about your personality makes you a good fit for MIT's values? Do you know what they are? It's about more than the numbers at schools like MIT.</p>

<p>From those stats, I can't see any reason why you would be immediately rejected. However, I'd imagine there are a lot of people with similar stats as you (your friend, w/e) applying. It would really be dependent upon your essays, recs, and interview.</p>
