Chances at MIT?

You only play one instument?

Ever think about Georgia Tech? It's pretty good... Maybe you can make that your safety school or something.

Yeah, that too. Bump.

How much does it hurt that my average is not that great this year?

Freshman year I had 97.2, sophomore year I had 97.8, and this year I have had 96.5 the first two quarters, almost entirely because of English. I can expect a similar average for this quarter, and for the whole year I can expect to have around 97.0 because of easy final exams. I don't think it'll severely impact my class rank, but downward trends are supposed to be bad, right? And I think I'll have a hard time blaming it on course load because I'm not taking that many more APs than last year.

I'm thinking about some easier schools to get into, like CMU, Illinois, and, as thesyst3m said, Georgia Tech, in case I don't get into MIT, Stanford, or Caltech.

97.2 ~ 97.8 ~ 97.0 is not a downward trend. man! don't worry abt it...you're grades are awesome.

Try UChicago. Great in math/science with 40% acceptance rate. Its rank in US News is pulled down because it's not that selective, despite it's top-notch faculty.

Only!? The object of music is not to play in an exceedingly proliferate fashion. I think it's better to develop a passion for one instrument and play it well...rather than try your hand at everything and not be a standout in anything.

Did you get into RSI?

No RSI for me :(. And they spelled my name "Frnak" on the letter! Oh well, I really didn't expect to get in. Nobody does. This afternoon I have an interview at a lab. I think I have a good chance of getting in.

As for the University of Chicago, my mother seems to like that place and wants me to apply there. And they send somewhat higher quality college mail than other schools.

aisan males. man, it will be hard i tell you. i wish you goog luck.

stanford for you is a reach. Caltech is a match (ironic in a sense) and MIT is probably a pretty good chance. my first choice is also MIT... ugh im so screwed since i never won any science/math comp.s your app better not be right in front of mine ;p

hey frank what school do u go to, webster schroeder by any chance?

Yes, I go to webster schroeder.l

yeah it is definitely 3.14159265358979323846264883827950...somethin like that

Try to focus on one thing and excel at it. I just glanced at your stats so I might have missed something, if so, my bad

My friend got into caltech. He had a 3.9 GPA out of 4.0, and took the classes that most people take (advanced). He didnt play a sport, got a good SAT score (nothing great, def. below 1500) but he concentrated on computers and did really well on software engineering for BPA (3rd or so in the nation) and C++ programming (3rd or so in the nation). He also got an internship at a local computer sciences business.

I hate it when those math dilentanttes try to pass themselves off as smarter than they really are by reciting pi's digits....and getting it wrong!!
for the record, it is::::
3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510
(approximately)

usually not such a MATH Nazi....dont know what came over me...::checks heaqrt rate in mild but growing concern::....hmmm, oh well, at least the general public is a little better off now...ah well

Are you referring to IvyLeague14? I believe those digits are correct. You added a bunch to them, and yours are correct too, I believe. I think I'll add 5820974944 to the end of your string.

ahh dang, and i thought I KNEW "a lot of pi" 3.141592653589793238462643383. :|

u guys are weak... i have a friend who can do a rubiks cube in 30 secs... and has pi to approx 250 digits... i bet him 300 and he had it for a week... never paid him tho lol

3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286208998628034825342117067982148086513282306647093844609550582231725359408128481117450284102701975665933446128475

i could recite it to the one thousandth, but wouldn't help me getting into MIT

or... some, not all of you could be reciting off a webpage...
