Chances at MIT

Hey All,
Look I know that people post like 50 of these a day, but I really want some other peoples opinions on my resume because MIT has been a long time goal of mine. If you could just take a look real quick and let me know what you think that would be great thanks.

I'm considering Electrical Engineering of Physics but I really want to go to MIT. I know my test scores aren't amazing but Im retaking them. Any comments and thoughts about MIT or any other school that you think would fit me are much appreciated, thanks again.

Great job on your APs. Your ECs are interesting too, especially the soports and music. I suggest contacting the MIT coach of the sport you do best and see what develops. Also, retake those SATs and study like mad. Good luck!

I definitely think you have an excellent shot at it. Your EC's seem very well-rounded, and if you work hard for your tests and school work, you'll definitely get in!

Krabble, are you serious? Your SAT and ACT are very very weak for MIT. GPA is fine, rank is fine, APs are fine, ECs are good. But this is MIT we are talking about! It's hard enough to get into MIT already. It's near impossible with a 1370 and 29. If you raise SAT then you have an average shot.. like 15% maybe? But there's no way you will "definitely get in" MIT is a reach for everyone. I know that is trite, but I can't stress it enough. It's ridiculous to see people making posts saying others are shoo-ins for HYMPS or can have a lower-ivy safety school.

I was giving him a boost lol... I understand that I don't have a doctorates degree in "predicting college admissions", but who does..? haha.. ;P

Yeah but people want an honest assessment of their chances. You have to be realistic; you shouldn't sugar-coat someones chances.

That's true. You're making me feel bad now :(

You don't have any science-related ECs at all. That kills your chance more than anything

KRabble, if it were you, would you rather deal with reality now or when the thin envelope comes?

Thanks to everyone for the comments. I really appreciate your thoughts whether good or bad. I just have a few comments, to IWantFood, my science ecs include Science Club and the NASA Dime Project. We have done numerous activites like Robot Competitions and others, but I just chose not include those for sake of time and writing. Also, it seems like I pretty much need to raise my test scores (I was expecting some comments on that), so does anyone have any good study ideas whether it be books or other programs. Once again, thanks so much and any comment is appreciated.

I think people were referring to things like RSI or NASA SHARP. Anyone can join a Science Club.

Yeah science club really doesn't matter, as sup said. If you made a science olympiad team and competed and got far, then that would be considered MIT-level EC. Or IChO or some other prestigious science competition. But just being in a science club doesn't mean anything because anyone can go to the meetings and sit there.

good stats and records for MIT. a little suggestion: if you could raise your SAT math and reading both by at least 50, your chance will be very high. They (710M, 660V) are little too low for MIT.
