I am a senior at a small rural high school. I took the sat and act once and didn't study. sat is 1800 and ACT is 28. I am studying and retaking both. I have around a 3.5 gpa and a 98.4 weighted gpa. My class rank is in the top ten percent. I have taken the hardest classes my high school offers. My senior year schedule is AP calculus, AP physics, Ap english, college economics, college sociology, spanish 4, and French 2.
I am the president of one club at my school. I am secretary of student government and treasurer of science club. I am in my schools leadership council and nhs. I am also in marching band.
In the summer I work at a summer camp. I have also done a leadership program and a counselor and training program. I have gone to summer programs as well. One was for law and the other was biochem. I also went to RYLA last summer. I was the only one from my school selected
I am a first generation college student as well.
I plan on majoring in either prelaw/political science or molecular bio/ premed.
I want to go to a small liberal arts school. However, I do like a few schools that bigger that I liked. It would be really helpful if anyone has other suggestions. So far my list is:
Case Western
Allegheny
Hamilton
Gettysburg
Dickinson
Bucknell
Kenyon
Franklin and Marshall
Lafayette
Washington and Jefferson
Westminster
George Washington
American
Thank you.

Anyone?

Does anyone know my chances?

Scores are on the bubble for Gettysburg. Get them up a bit and you look good!

How much do my scores need to go up. I am focused more on the act than the sat.

I’m not really familiar with all of those schools, but from what I do know, I think you have decent chances. Your GPA and scores aren’t so bad, and your class rank and course rigor and ECs will definitely help you. Good luck!

Thanks! Also I will chance back.

I’m only familiar with Case and Kenyon. I think you’ll get into both, almost definitely Case. Assuming that your ACT is still better than your SAT after you retake it, only send the ACT. Good luck

Hey thanks for the chance! Unfortunately I don’t know much about many of the schools that you have listed, but I think CWRU and George Washington are both matched. Sorry I couldn’t be of much help!

Good luck!

Case Western: Likely accepted, possibility of a waitlist.
Allegheny: Accepted
Hamilton: Denied, possibility of a waitlist.
Gettysburg: Most likely waitlisted.
Dickinson: Most likely waitlisted.
Bucknell: Denied
Kenyon: Denied
Franklin and Marshall: Really a crapshoot here, all 3 options are pretty understandable.
Lafayette: Possibly accepted, if not accepted then waitlisted.
Washington and Jefferson: Don’t know anything about this school.
Westminster: Don’t know anything about this school either.
George Washington: Another crapshoot, though I doubt you’d be straight up denied.
American: Accepted with very slight chance of waitlist.

Bucknell, Hamilton, and Kenyon are definite reaches. You should be accepted or waitlisted at all the rest but probably accepted by the majority.

Thanks. Does anyone else want to chance?

Case Western reach
Allegheny match
Hamilton don’t know
Gettysburg low reach
Dickinson high match
Bucknell low reach
Kenyon match
Franklin and Marshall low reach
Lafayette: low reach
Washington and Jefferson: low match closer to safety
Westminster: Pa? Then safety
George Washington: reach
American: high match low reach

Hey buddy! Your GPA is quite good but your test scores are a little low. That shouldn’t be a problem as long as your essays are good

Thanks and good luck to you!

Allegheny, Washington and Jefferson, Westminster, and American if SAT optional are very good chances for admission. Ericthenewyorker’s list is what I would also say

I think especially if you get your SAT/ACT scores up you’ve got pretty definite matches for Allegheny, Westminster, GW, American, Gettysburg, and Kenyon. I don’t know anything about the rest, but I think you’re on the right track!!!
