Hi Guys, I’m a white male from AZ, and USC is my ultimate dream school. Right now I have:
3.87 GPA
Top 1% Class Rank
30 on the ACT
Really strong extracurriculars
Good essay, really good supplements.
However, my midyear senior grades are pretty bad- I got a 3.33 last semester. A few days ago, they sent out an email requesting these grades from me. I know that I’m not exactly a shoe in at this school, and those grades won’t help.
So what do you guys think? Do I still have a chance?
BTW my majors are astronomy and computer science. (So I applied to Dornsife)
is that 3.87 weighted or unweighted? If it is unweighted, I would say you have a pretty good chance. I believe average unweighted GPA at USC is around 3.85.Your ACT is just a little below average, but if you have strong extracurriculars and good essays I think it will counter-act it. USC is well known for looking at applicants holistically, so they will look highly upon strong extracurriculars if they are coupled with strong grades. And about the Senior grades, as long as you are trending upwards up to that point, they will probably be more forgiving. Also USC will sometimes offer spring-admit to those who did not make it in the fall. So if you don’t make it, I wouldn’t be surprised if you were offered spring-admit.
