Currently a junior extremely interested in Game Design and Computer Science and Northeastern looks extremely appealing to me.
My unweighted GPA is about 3.85, however, I have taken 6 AP courses and countless honors courses so I would assume that cumulatively I reach at least a 4.4 (I plugged the majority of my courses into a calculator online and thats what I got).
I have a 33 on the ACT but I am looking to take it again and improve it.
I have taken 2 ap tests (taking 4 this spring) and got a 4 on AP Physics 1 freshman year and a 5 on AP World history sophomore year.
So, how do I stack up? I have looked at online things like niche and other calculators but they vary so much I have no idea what to think.
Thank you for reading this, its really appriciated.
Sorry, forgot to add this.
Also in or have participated in about 9 or 10 extracurricular throughout highschool. But have only had officer positions in a few.
Havent really got any notable awards throughout highschool to top off my resume but I believe that I, at least when it comes to semiformulaic essays, am a slightly above average writer.
So it looks like you didn’t actually take four AP tests, which isn’t great, since it’s hard to give merit to the grades you received in those classes. If you don’t have any extra-circulars that tie into CS or game design, it may be harder to get into considering your niche interests. That being said, you are currently competitive, but to boost your chances, I hope that you have undertaken some sort of coding or programming that ties into your intended major.
Ok, first of all, thanks for replying!
Secondly, I am currently enrolled in 4 ap classes, I just said that I had taken them and based my grades off of the grades I received first semester, but I will be taking all 4 tests this spring.
Finally, I actually am in technology club at my school and am in my 3rd year of computer science courses. (intro, c++ 1, c++ 2, AP Comp Sci).
Would that sway my chances much?
