Hey guys, I'd just like to see where I stand with the whole college deal.

My reach is Stanford. My "perfect fit" schools are Northwestern and Rice.

Anyway, here we go:

Class Rank: 1 out of 250
GPA (Unweighted): 4.0
GPA (Weighed): 4.6

AP's taken: AP Computer Science (5), AP English Language (5), AP Calculus AB (5)
AP's I'm currently taking: AP Government; AP Literature; AP Calculus BC
College-level courses taken: Statistics (A)

SAT Reasoning Test: 2320
Math: 800
Critical Reading: 800
Writing: 720 (Perfect score on MC; ate it on the essay - I accidentally wrote creatively; I realized that mistake far too late...)

ACT: 34 - Writing

SAT's: Literature: 730; Math-II: 800 (90th Percentile on both, if that's worth noting)

Extracurricular Activities:
-Varsity Track
-Student Government
-Designed a video game which should be released as freeware by the time applications are due (I'm applying as a Computer Science major, by the way)
-I weight-lift and work five days a week, but I dunno if they'll care about the former all that much.

Anyway, yeah, hit me with hit.

any other EC's? leadership or awards? what is your race? what state are you from?

Yea good academics, but pretty lacking in ECs. That game is intriguing, though.

I'd say you have a decent shot at both schools. What about Carnegie Mellon?

Very good chances for Northwestern and Rice, and you're just as qualified as any other applicant for Stanford.

Excellent shot at both, I'll concur with you calling them "perfect fit" schools. May I ask what you got on the essay for the SATs? I can't imagine you got all the multiple choice and ended up with a 720. One of my friends got an 800 on the writing with a 9/12 on the essay, so I would think even a 5 or 6 wouldn't drop it down that far.

^ lol i think a 5 or a 6 WOULD drop it down that low..

I'm from California and I'm Egyptian (I'm first generation, too).

I got an 8 on the essay; I really did get all the MC right though. It was pretty strange. Anyway, I'm just hoping my essay can show them that I'm a decent writer. I just can't write on those bullcrap - "Can knowledge ever be a detriment?" - essays that are on the SAT.

I got the Harvard Book Award. I've also tutored and I work with children. I can't say I have 800 service hours or anything - I sort of spent a lot of time enjoying myself in high school. I know - horrible. I'm just hoping that my test scores will be enough, to tell you the truth, since Rice and NW both consider scores "Very Important."

Lol, I've considered Carnegie Mellon. I'm not feeling the girl-to-guy ratio, though. Plus, is Pittsburgh a nice place to live?
