Northwestern (ED)-Accepted.

Hands down, no questions asked.

ummmmmm thanks.. i was not expecting that... could anyone 2nd that or give another point of view? lol thanks... hope he right?

You already said it yourself. Your EC's are excellent, as are your rec's. In addition, your SAT is gonna be kick ass. And your GPA/SAT are great. You have a rigorous courseload as well. What more is their to know? Your a lock.

thanks... bump more opinions please.

Accepted...

would i have a better shot at DUKE (((ED))) or NU (((ED)))

NU of course.

okay, this Rutgers Hopeful is saying "you're accepted" or "you're in" or some similar variant to everyone.

Your GPA is killing you. 3.52 uw and an automatic admit to northwestern? are you kidding me? ED does improve your chances, but how are your chances in the first place?

3.52 unweighted, and this is after an excellent upward grade trend? can you explain this? did you have extenuating circumstances? now if your unweighted was actually 3.85 (which is your weighted), then the ED admit would be much more plausible. your ACT is a bit mediocre too.

i have to say that it's interesting you were in the Asian Culture Club despite being a white male. and you have a better shot NU ED than Duke ED because Duke is harder to get into than NU.

if i am using the common app do i write about these "circumstances" in my real essay or somewhere else?

were you extremely ill for a long period of time or something? was there a death in the family? those are the kind of extenuating circumstances i mean.

if it wasn't that serious and you just slacked off or something, don't bother and try to fake it. it's not worth it.

if you had legit extenuating circumstances, you should've told your counselor and he/she should already know about it and will write about it in his/her rec and school report to the college. you can also write about it in your real essay, if you want.

if you don't talk about it, they won't know about it, and then definitely won't give you the benefit of a doubt and will bring a negative impression of you. your application is the place to let them know these things.

even with an "excellent upward grade trend," it's not THAT excellent when the end gpa is a 3.52 uw. grade trends are good but you have to take into account a school's typical profile of accepted applicants too, and northwestern doesn't take many 3.52 uw's.

k thank you. lets keep talking lol i need some input... basically i am looking to apply to either Northwestern, Claremont McKenna, Carnegie Mellon, or Tufts. I would like to apply to one ED and discard the rest. I do have matches and safeties that i will be applying to as well but i would like at least one reach or dream school from that list to apply ED too. Do you happen to know which one i would have the best shot at ED?

bump(10char)

Northwestern - High Reach

Your ACT is low as is your GPA and EC's

mabye the ED will help out a little but its still a high reach

is low reach or high reach better? lol

Class rank and size?

89/410..............

do i have a better shot at Northwestern ED or USC?
