Chances at Northwestern/Vanderbilt

3.75 unweighted GPA end of junior year of highschool.

34 composite ACT, 10 writing score

I have taken all honors and AP courses available.

I have been involved w/ jv and varsity wrestling all throughout highschool.

I have done 150 hours of community service.

What are my chances into northwestern, vanderbilt, wash u, carnegie mellon?
What are my chances if I apply to one of them early decision?

I think you have a shot at both, though your UW GPA is a bit low for Northwestern and Vandy. You ACT is great though, so, like I said, good shot at NWU and Vandy. I don’t know much about Wash U, but I think you will get into Carnegie Mellon.

Chances are not good unless your class rank is in the top 10%.

Northwestern and Vanderbilt are very high reaches. Wash U is a reach. Carnegie Mellon is a low reach. Your chances go significantly up if you get athletically recruited, though.

Where do you rank?

My school doesn’t rank. I’m hoping my grades won’t be that much of a deterrent though, because I am on an upward trend. I have an A in every class besides AP Chem this year (my junior year), and an A- in AP Chem.

I am not good enough to be athletically recruited.

Official rank or not, being top 10% is key. They get enough info from your HS to know where you rank.

I would say I am in the top 15% at least. Definitely top 10% if they see all of my advanced classes compared to what the rest of my classmates are taking.
