Extra notes - I am applying ED and I have 7 degrees from Northwestern as legacy (including my grandfather who worked in engineering for 40+ years). I have already finished both my common application essay and my NU supplemental essay, and they are both solid (I've run them by people at Northwestern). I have yet to start the optional independent research abstract, as I have not finished my experimentation yet.

Your ACT is fine. (You are wise in using that and forgetting about the SAT.)
Your ECs are okay.
Your GPA is low for NU.
What exactly do you mean by “I have 7 degrees from Northwestern as legacy”? (I understand about your grandfather, which does make you a legacy. What is the reference to 7 degrees?)
You will be in the mix, but it’s hard to say how strong your chances are.

I wouldn’t suggest lying about your ethnicity. You can get in a lot of trouble for that.

just to clarify, I mean my family has earned 7 degrees from NU
and I am half japanese half irish/german… so I am able to put either ethnicity

Pure stats-wise, I’m sorry to say you’re not exceptionally competitive. The ACT is up to par, but not stellar, and the UW GPA is pretty low. ECs aren’t mind-blowing. It seems as though you’re quite the legacy there, however, so MAYBE the combination of that and ED will pull you in.

I take that back, your ECs are impressive. Maybe not mind-blowing, but those alone are quite compelling.

Probably a reach – worth an application.
