Worked shadowing a doctor (alumni at Notre Dame) for a week at his medical office
Intended major - PREmed (Will that feature help?)

Essay - one on Health care (show my interest in my future field of study)
Other on why I am different (ardent Catholic - it is a Catholic University, large family, great love for Notre Dame, champion of chance - refer back to universal health care, another allusion to my premed studies)

Letter of Recs from that ND alumni (the doctor I shadowed for a week), my local priest (Catholic), and two of my teachers

Judging by my grades and courseload, it's kind of hard to set me apart from the bunch of other students who applied to top schools like ND, however, if you could thoroughly look through the extra stuff, like the letters of rec and the essays and see how they shadow my intended major and my interest in Notre Dame, I think you'll realize why I am a match for this University..

Thanks so mUCH!!! WILLL CHANCE BACK I ALWAYS DO I PROMISE!

A. if you’re so insistent that you are “a match for this University…” then why do you need us to tell you anything. you’re basically preempting vague replies which would tell you that you have the stats but nothing makes you look special, and you’re trying to reply that by saying we don’t know every circumstance of your candidacy and hence we can’t judge you. hmmmm.

B. yes, you do have a chance of getting in but i really wouldn’t call you a match because honestly, no matter how good recs and whatnot are, realize that such subjective things are often not the makers or breakers of an admissions case. more often that not, recs and essays are the final push (in either direction) unless you have multiple people who’re willing to vouch that you’ve changed their lives phenomenally and not accepting you would be a mistake on ND’s part. even that might not override the lack of something special.

I’m not trying to convince you guys whether or not i’m a match. I would just like to know what you guys think. Honestly, my opinion on whether or not I’m a match for the University does not matter at all. In that case, would you guys be able to help me deciphering if my stats are good enough for ND? I’m just asking about the entire picture…I know it is hard to tell, but this has been my dream school since I was born, and sometimes I would just like to know my chances based on people who might have a better idea than I do, whether it be predicting that I do get in or predicting that I get rejected.

I’m not trying to sway you guys, I was just wonderin if you could help me out.

I honestly think you have a fine chance. Your SAT is fine (though a bit on the low end for unhooked), your class rank is great, and your grades look good. To be safe, I would put it at a high match given only your Grades/SATs/ECs. If the essays were as good as you claim, I would say that you have a good shot.

I think you have a decent chance. Your recommendations will help but there are probably a lot of students with similar connections. Your SATs are a bit low for someone without a hook. If your essay is good then you definitely have a shot
