Apply widely. 2 programs are not enough. The Med. Schools in these programs are easier to get in “Regular Route” than bs/md programs that include these Med. Schools. So, no tragedy, if you do not get into bs/md, then apply regular route.

I feel this thread has a lot of misinformation. Someone said brown (not PLME) averages 34-35 on ACT…That’s just wrong (more like 32). Also, what is all this talk about a physics subject test? Yes, subject tests are a good way to show how competent you are in certain subjects, but I think biology would be more important for medicine. And no, he isn’t going to be turned down for having fewer AP’s than some. It may be impressive to self-study something and get a 5, but if colleges see that you took the hardest schedule possible, that’s solid. And miamiDaP, why is 2 programs not enough? OP has a solid chance for some really good schools and could possibly get into a better medical school that route.

^haha you seem to have more confidence in myself than i do. i’m gonna shoot for a 35 ACT during my first retake in september, but i can’t take any AP’s now. by the way, i got a 5 for BC Calc and Eng Language, but only a 3 for chem unfortunately… so i gotta really try to improve my sat chem.

if i didn’t get into any of these (and i think i’ll apply to all 3), would you guys recommend me attending my state school (iowa) or a highier tier one like michigan, where i’d probably go for honors, or an even higher tier one (if i get in somehow).

sorry for switching this convo haha

Just don’t submit your 3 on AP chem. For your question on what college if you don’t get in, I think Iowa would be a very safe school, but you it’s worth a shot to apply to some top public schools like michigan or virginia, and even higher private schools like chicago or cornell. Just write good essays and anything is possible.

Thanks. But let’s say, super hypothetically, if I got in at all 3 ‘levels’. Should I go to Iowa for the grades or the higher schools for the education/maximization of potetenial?

I would pick the best school for your major. if you care enough to post on this website, you can work hard enough to succeed at a more rigorous school. this is all if money is not a factor.

Thanks. By the way, any tips for how I word my research in my resume? Like so far I just have that I worked for Dr. ___ in the Department of Medical Microbiology and Immunology. Should I outline my protocol? State the disease that I researched? Or is that not resume-y?
