If someone could tell me what my chances are at being accepted during regular decision it would be greatly appreciated.

Stats:
SAT: 2150 (Math-800, CR-640, Writing-710)
SAT II: Math 2- 750, Physics- 650
GPA UW: 3.96/4.0
Rank: 30/262
AP's taken: AP Euro, AP U.S. Hist, AP Physics, AP Calc AB (the rest are all honors courses)

EC's:
-been part of National Honors Society since sophomore year, and done 100+ service hours with them
-been a member of Boy Scouts since 5th grade and I have earned the Eagle Scout rank (also another 200+ service hours with this organization)
-participated in cross country and track since freshman year, and senior year was captain of varsity XC
-held different jobs since beginning of junior year where I work 10-15 hours per week
-I have had numerous leadership positions and have great experience through my time with boy scouts and working
-also I think my essay was great and unique, and my recommendation letters are solid as well

I personally think that everyone has a chance as there’s no definite recipe to getting in. Although your stats specifically your standardised scores would put you in the lower echelon of NU applicants…I think your GPA and activities are pretty good and hopefully will make up for it.

Many people will comment on how your not in the top 10% and how that might pull your application down. I personally don’t think thats true as rank doesn’t take in consideration the rigour of your classes and you’ve taken some tough courses and maintained high scores in them.

Overall, I think you have a shot if your essays are as good as you say they are and depending on the program you’re going for. I would suggest taking the SAT II’s again especially Physics as 650 is pretty average as the curves pretty lenient.

Good Luck!

Sources- NU Class of 2018 via early decision

Alumni here. I just spent this past weekend interviewing kids in your exact same position. Let me say, having just graduated in the past 2 years - there is some incredibly stiff competition out there. Not to say that you aren’t a great candidate, but getting accepted into any top tier college these days is more about luck.

Quantitatively, 45% of the class has already been filled from ED admits. This leaves just over 1000 spots to be filled, which if you do the math gives about a 6-7% admit rate expected for the RD class. At that point it’s not about if you’re a great candidate - but simply about luck. I’m sure you will have your pick of colleges, but the way the process is these days its nearly impossible to say who will get into where.
