chances at NYU. a very very under average student.

<p>hey guys. im probably outrageous even deciding to apply to nyu. but this has been my dream school since who knows. im a mediocre student with unexciting stats. soo care to chance me if i have even slight of a chance?</p>

<p>grade: rising senior '08
gender: female
ethnicity: asian
gpa: 3.1 (allhonors+aps) .. yep its really bad. haha it was worse in freshman year but i somehow brought it up .1</p>

<h2>classrank: top30%percentile (out of 400+ kids)</h2>

<p>sat: 1340/1600 .. 1930/2400
math(710) cr(630) writing(590)<=weakpoint
(i plan on retaking it in oct with hopes of getting it above 2070, i know im working my butt off right now to prepare..)
sat2s: math2(640) korean(740) </p>

<h2>(retaking again in nov. and colleges do see these scores even if i apply ed, its just that they see them before i do)</h2>

<p>clubs: - fbla, sadd, amnesty international, keyclub, interact</p>

<h2>sports: - lacrosse(2years), bowling(1year)</h2>

<p>random extracurriculars*
-korean school (10years+) i still help as a teachersassistant on saturdays
-piano(9years)
-tutoring little kids(9thgrade-till now as an oncoming senior)
-over 200+ volunteer hours at a local nursing home
-working at a diner on weekends and summertime</p>

<h2>-internship at a local radiostation/tvproductioncenter (2years)</h2>

<p>last note, i want to major in communications specifically tv/radio broadcast journalism, this is why i interned at the radiostation to get a glimpse of what its like.</p>

<p>No offense, but I think that your gpa and rank stink. Other than that, you would have typical NYU stats, in my opinion. Good luck, I'm applying next year too with 3.75 gpa but lower SAT scores!</p>

<p>i dont think your class rank is THAT bad. but your gpa is way low.
your sats are decent though. nyu doesnt really look at writing do they?
i do know some ppl who have gotten in nyu with really bad stats.
compared to them your considerably better.
i think what got them in is a clear interest in their major and maybe legacy.
steinhard isnt too competetive so i think if you ed with a really good essay you'll have a decent shot. but it could go either way.</p>

<p>Have you ever thought of CAS in NYU? I think, if I'm not mistaken, it's the easiest of the schools one could get into.</p>

<p>to vvvvaaaapppp: my cousin attends nyu right now and shes a senior and she told me cas is actually harder than steinhardt because it has one of the bigger applicant pools than the other schools at nyu if im not mistaken.</p>

<p>thanks to everyone who responded. but could anyone chance me at the other schools i listed below too? if sooooo that would be so helpful. :p</p>

<p>I think you have a decent shot at the schools you plan on applying to... GPA IS a little low but I think you can pull a few acceptances through. Good luck with NYU!</p>
