Member of SADD grades 10 and 11. President in 12.
Member of Enviromental club in grades 9,10, and 11. President in 12.
Member of humanitarian club in grades 9,10, and 11. VP in 12.

Coordinated fundraiser carnival and raised over $6,000.

Skills/awards-
CPR certified
Bilingual
Academic Achievement Award in grades 9 and 10

SAT- 1920
Bio SAT ll- 640
APs- Biology (4), Chem, Literature, Statistics.

Now here's what I think will be my downfall.
GPA: 3.3
Math score on SAT: 590 (making my CR+M score a 1280 which kind of sucks)

What do you think my chances for NYU, Stony Brook, and Macaulay Honors are? And does anyone know schools I should apply to that have good biology/medical programs around the NYC area? Any response would be greatly appreciated!

Also my ACT score is a 26 if that matters.

Bump

Anyone?

I am able to pay full tuition and it seems that’s a big deal. Bumpppppp

Bump.

Have you tried to get your Math score up on the SAT? A 690 on CR can get you into some nice schools.

Have you looked at Manhattan college? Your scores would both be high there, but I’ve heard good things about the quality of the teaching there.

What about Fordham? Your CR is above the 75th percentile, and your Math is right at the 25th percentile. I’m no expert on admissions, but that seems like a possibility.

I got the same math score all 3 times I took the SAT. Every. Single. Time. I think it’s harder to get the same exact grade all 3 times than it is to get a 700.

Another hs senior here…
VERY nice ECs and work experience I think ,thats definitely a plus.

SATS and GPA are a bit low, but if you come from a small school like me with somewhat limited academic opportunities, they may be a bit lenient… Can’t be sure though.

Here’s what I think, for what its worth (my application is somewhat similar to yours, aside from the ECs/work)
Stonybrook- match, go for it, I may see you there :))
Nyu cas- don’t know, havent looked into it at all, I can guess however that you can get in minus merit based aid
Macauly honors- just a tad reach I think. Maybe if you’re recs and essay were off the charts, you’ll get in.

Sorry if I sound a bit harsh, remember that my opinion is probably quite misinformed.

BEST OF LUCK
Chance back if you want

Yeah I come from a really small school. 50 kids in my graduating class and there are not too many advanced offered in my school. I take what I can.

I already applied to NYU CAS (ED)
Im sitting on a 2000 composite score for the SAT I and im doing SAT II BIO soon too.
you have very strong ECs with lots of leadership roles so youre good with those. but i think your test scores (kind of similar to me) COULD BE low. im not sure, i really hope it isnt tho.
Good luck bro, hit me up for any updates

@hunggngguyen‌ thanks for the reply! Good luck to you too. Hopefully we both get in. Also, how big of an advantage/disadvantage might there be from applying ED? I was told you’re picked from the best of the best but the majority of people are picked from ED.

@adamd9697 so i checked up on the chances of ED quite a lot and it seems like NYU strictly states that ED applicants are not favored and that they analyze all students regular and early the same way. I also checked the acceptance rate for ED and its like (plusminus) 1% from the rate of RD :frowning: man im so nervous xD

oh and i dont think you should early decision II because i think you’ll be against IVY league rejects
