THE SCHOOLS
- New York University, Stern School of Business (Early Decision).
- Georgetown University.
- Boston College.
- Boston University.
- University of Miami.
- American University.
- Richmond, the American University in London (Anybody know about this school?).

I'm planning to major in marketing/public relations.

Admission to NYU seems likely.

New York University, Stern School of Business (Early Decision): match

Georgetown University: slight reach

Boston College: match

Boston University: low match

University of Miami: safety

American University: safety

Richmond, the American University in London: I have no idea

In other words, I could see you getting into NYU pretty easily. =]

slight reach at georgetown? thats bull. if you're considering their business program..its highly likely you'll be admitted as stern is more selective and you'll definitely make it there.

NYU Stern: match (you're in if applying ED)
Georgetown: low match (slight safety)
BC: low match (slight safety)
BU: safety
UMiami: safety
American: safety
Richmond: huh?

thank you for the responses! i just really want to get in...so badly. i've wanted to go to this school since i was in ninth grade. i thought i could calm down a bit after having sent in my early decision application, but not so much.
i'm slightly surprised to hear that georgetown's business school is easier to get into. i know they're strong in the political/ir area, but i thought their business programs were good too. but it's my second choice, so i'm glad to hear it.

oh, and i think i should also add this:
- public high school in suburban philadelphia that sends a fair amount of grads to top schools.
- will apply for financial aid. (how much does this affect my chances?)

applying for fin. aid won't have an impact on your decision. it is need-blind policy and youre applying to schools that are all private.

bump! anybody else have a thought on this?

how much more 'thought' do you need?

i want to hear other people's opinions about my chances. that, and possibly if anyone has info about this richmond place.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks it strange she only has a PSAT score?

SAT 800M, 760V, 710W.

youre blind

i thought i'd stick the psat thing in there for the commended scholar effect...but it probably won't give me an edge on the scholarship thing with colleges, especiallly nyu.

hmm will it affect your chances a lot of getting in if you dont go ED?

cuz im applying to NYU too but im not going ED

i got similar stats 'cept just a little lower SAT (2120) but national merit semifinalist

Are you kidding me? He's no safety for Georgetown...

GC's at my D's school would say that Georgetown is a safety for nobody.

biggyboy: Georgetown is NOT a safety for anybody...let alone him. I agree that Stern might be more selective, but Georgetown is definitely not a "low match" or "slight safety" as you put it.

i'm a she. kthanks.
and back to the question...NYU??

i dont see why she wouldnt be admitted to georgetown mcdonough. her sat score is well above the avg for their business school. the college is a different story though. her top choice is nyu..and she'll most likely be admitted. relax.

heeey okay so I’d like to see my chances of applying ED to NYU

GPA (weighted): 4.2

6 APs: AP Human Geography sophomore year (we’re only allowed to take one our sophomore year), AP Psychology, AP Spanish, AP English Lang this year, and next year I’m taking two, AP Art History and AP English Lit (I would take more but I’m going to be in academic decathlon and the managing editor of our school’s newspaper, so I figured this was a wise balance)

ECs: managing editor & academic decathlete as mentioned above, senior class officer, treasurer of volunteering club ‘One,’ member of German Club last year and Hawaiian Club this year, two years of varsity lacrosse, two years of a freshman mentor program, and four years of working at a family business

pretty horrible ACTs, composite score of a 25
33 English, 30 Reading, 10/12 Writing, 25 Science, math score I’d rather not say…
I took them three times and got a 25 twice, and I took it last Saturday so I’m waiting for my third set of results. If they suck I’m attempting it a fourth time. Standardized tests just aren’t my thing.

and I took two SAT IIs, one in Literature and one in Spanish. I’m still waiting for those results too. I think I’m going to take the SAT Reasoning Test too, but I’m debating.

AHHHHHHH okay so do I have a chance of applying ED to this school or should I just flush these dreams down the toilet. 1st kid in my family to go to college, if that means anything. White female in Chicago. I’m seriously really grateful for any advice or opinions you guys can give me. Thank you sosososo much
