<p>I am going to be a senior and my HS GPA is about 3.5-3.7 (not sure because old school only had IB grades there weren't translated into GPA).</p>
<p>I attended a Swiss international school for my freshman and sophomore years and had strong grades in pre-IB and all advanced courses where I could (Adv Math, Adv English, Adv German). The only bad grades were in Math.</p>
<p>For junior year (and senior year) I attended an American school in Argentina doing the full IB diploma with a 3.55-3.60 GPA, unweighted. I have only As and Bs.</p>
<p>SAT: 2060 (CR: 710/M: 640/W:710)
I am taking them again in October.</p>
<p>ECs:
-Soccer for 4 years, varsity for 2, captain for 1
-Started film club
-Debate club
-Student council treasurer
-Prom committee
-Tutoring/community service (150+ hours)</p>
<p>I also did an 80 hour internship in the PR offices of Stella McCartney as a junior and working at a yoga studio in the summer before senior year.</p>
<p>Other:
I have lived in New York, Switzerland and Argentina. I speak English, French, Spanish fluently and some German. I am Hispanic.</p>
<p>My recommendation letter will be very good, I have a great relationship with one teacher (English) and I plan to go onto something to do with English Lit/writing later on.
I love writing and think my essays will be pretty good.</p>
<p>I am applying early decision to NYU to the Gallatin School of Individualized Study.</p>

I think the fact that you’ve been all over will certainly grant you an international perspective which the Admissions Committee will recognize.

I also like that you get to finish with the IB Diploma. I couldn’t find an IB French school in the area I was assigned :

<p>With improved SAT scores I don’t see NYU rejecting you. However, NYU does not guarantee to meet full demonstrated need and if financial aid is a problem the binding decision of ED could cripple your finances. Just something to keep in mind.</p>

<p>I think you’re pretty good. Do you have any other EC’s (like clubs). Do you know roughly your class rank. Even if your school doesn’t rank, your stats are solid and your SAT score isn’t bad for NYU (I think its good considering their top 50% have an sat score range from 1800-2100). You’re doing just fine. If you can bump your SAT’s up that’s even better. Good luck dude!</p>

<p>Strong chance. I have a cousin who got in w/ a 3.5 GPA and 8+ APs. She only knows Japanese and English. NYU is basically all about the money. Its costs a lot!!</p>
<p>In all honesty I don’t know much about NYU beyond its reputation of selectivity, but based on my superficial knowledge I’d say that assuming you can increase your SAT I scores by about 80-100 points you should be set. You have strong ECs but your GPA seems to be a tad low. So my advice would be a retake and improvement on the SATs and to keep up your grades to improve your GPA if possible. Good luck, you should be fine!</p>
<p>That is true vossron. I was speaking only in cases where family contribution will be much lower than financial aid estimates etc… If the package given appears to be adequate, but one must still pay most of thefamily contribution… Anyways. He said money was not a problem.</p>
