My two sisters went to UGA for undergrad and my brother went to law school there.
One of my sisters is currently at NYU Stern for grad school.

I'd appreciate any thoughts. I know NYU is a bit of a reach for me (well, a huge reach), but I figured I would at least try.

Thanks!

I think u have a solid chance at NYU cuz of ur strong devotion to ec's. Maybe try retaking the sat cuz the diff from a 730-750 is minimal and that would bump u into the 1400s. Also,it appears u live in Ga., so have u thought about Emory.

I have thought about Emory and I visited it. I wasn't too crazy about it, though.

I wish I could take the SAT again, but I've already taken it too many times.

oooo. I have a question for u actually cuz Im relally interested in emory have similar stats but live in nj so its kinda hard to visit. What did u like/dislike bout it. Also have u thought about ED at NYU if they offer it and its ur #1 school

Well it seems as though you probably already know what you are capable of getting into. I just moved away from GA and I was in the drama magnet at North Springs, so good luck with the theatre stuff! I think it's great that you have such a positive outlook and that will get you a ways if it comes through in your essays, and app. However . . .
NYU is a major reach because of you low GPA, your SATs are pretty good and your ECs are mediocre.
UGA you never can tell these days, it seems that if you don't apply ED you get denied so who knows! (There was a guy at my school with 3.9 GPA, 1400+ SAT, captain of baseball team, and senior class prez that got denied!) However I think you have a shot at UGA, GA State is a definite and you might want to look at Emory as well because I think you would have a good chance there and they have a pretty good theatre program (I know some drama magnet kids that went there). So just look for some more good match schools because I think you can definitely get into a pretty good school.

I have visited Emory and I had a negative opinion going in, but afterwards I was very impressed. The school was on my short list, but I decided to cut it because I decided I don't want to go to school in the South (you have to be aware that the environment is very different). However, the city of Atlanta is great and Emory has a nice campus with BEAUTIFUL buildings! They also have lots of money and from what I have heard and seen great professors that are very involved with the students. I went to Preview Emory and got to talk with students and that is what they said they liked the most - the accessability of the professors (some said they ate dinner at professors' houses!) So, I definitely think it is a credible school with a great social environment.

wow vn i also heard that they have over a billion dollars in spending money crazy. if u dont mind can u pssibly lookat my post and see what my cahcnes of emory EDII are. also, if u want, I can view ur stats and state my opinion ty. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=434

Thanks for your input. I've always known that NYU is a long shot for me, so I won't be too disappointed if I don't get in.

I'm not applying ED to NYU because I'm not sure it's my definite number one choice. I'm pretty sure I like Drew and Emerson just as much (and I probably stand a half way decent chance of getting into one of those).

I have heard that UGA is pretty unpredictable as well. We'll see. I do think that my parents want me to go there more than I do, though...

Haha my parents were the same way (now that I live in Nebraska they want me to go to lincoln). All you can do is apply to different places and hope for the best. I know you will definitely get into Emerson though, it really isn't that competitive at all.

yo my advice is tell ur parents how u feel. I'm pretty sure they'll understnad thta ur schools aren't the same totally as theirs but U still respect their advice.

Yeah, my parents know how I feel. I still like UGA, but it's definitely not one of my first choices. I think they would just have a cow if I didn't apply to any instate schools, heh.
