Chances at NYU Gallatin?

I've read that Gallatin is more interested in your essay and extracurriculars and your ability to demonstrate that you are self-driven and independent, than your GPA.

I scored 2300 on the SAT.

-I'm trilingual and I learned my second languages through personal initiative and interest (not through school etc)
-I attended Schilling School for Gifted Children (must have an IQ over 120)
-Went to the regional spelling bee twice in grade school
-acted in five school productions, two community theatre productions and a student film, show choir for 2 years
-volunteered in Kilimanjaro for a month building a school, then worked for six months in Africa at the Chimpanzee Conservation Center, 3 week-long mission trips serving the homeless in Indianapolis, volunteered at nursing homes for five years, volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, part-time volunteer at local animal shelter for five months
-copy editor of school newspaper, attended journalism conference in Minneapolis, published politicl articles on the Internet and an interview with a popular musician arranged by me
-founded, own, and manage my own company selling therapeutic essential oils
-founded a local club providing company for people in nursing homes
-organized a fundraising campaign that raised $5,000+ for critically endangered apes
-won knights of Columbus essay contest on integrity

Despite my resume and SAT, my GPA is only 3.2. Very low, but in my defense I attended seven high schools in four states making stability difficult. The website states that, for NYU in general, average GPA is 3.6 and SAT is 1330 - 1400.

Do I have a chance?

2100 on the sat!!! Not 2300. Sorry.

Bump! Bump! Bump!

When they say 1330-1400 it’s on the 1600 scale.

NYU Gallatin: Low reach

I hope you have a safety lined up…

With that GPA, 2100 is a little too low. Your chances are really low, unless you got some GREAT ECs to offer. Sorry. I’d say Reach.

Thank you Catria and Killforstern!

I’m confused about the SAT scales. What score would you recommend as high enough, if 2100 is too low? Also, could you give me some examples of what a GREAT EC would be? I think mine are pretty good, decent. I’ve got five months before the early decision deadline.

Also, I’m new to this : “Reach” means “it’s a stretch”, not “no way”, right?

Yeah. You have a shot, but the chances seem bleak. ECs and essays should be good for reach.

Bump, bump, bump

Anyone else?

Then, how much do you have CR+M on the SAT?
