Hi,
In the fall i will start applying to colleges and NYU and Hunter are both on my list because they have great biology programs. I'm not sure about my chances for each and what would be the best choice if I were accepted. I have a 3.6 gpa, i have taken 3 years of foreign language, 4 years of math, english, social studies/history, and science. I have participated in extra curriculars including student ambassadors, tennis, film club, i write for the school newspaper, and I am a member of the National Honors Society. I am hispanic, and I will be going as a biology major. I have not taken the ACT or SAT yet so I cannot specify my score but as a sophomore, I got a 24 on the practice ACT. That was a year and 6 months ago. I understand NYU is highly selective and very hard, but I have heard from some people that it's not as hard to get into CAS as it would be for Stern. I would be at CAS for biology. As for Hunter i believe i can get in, but which college will I enjoy most if i were accepted? And as for the over all quality, which is best in terms of classes, education, and experience. And I understand that NYU is expensive but I'm not worried because I will be pursuing a career as a dentist and it will not be a problem for me. NYU is in an area I like better, and Hunter isnt in a bad area but I am not that fond of the location of their residence halls. Thanks. Personal experience is much appreciated.

NYU: Aim for 31+ on the ACT/2100+ on the SAT
Hunter: Aim for 25+ on the ACT/1750+ on the SAT

You definitely need to study for the ACT and SAT. If you got a 24 on the practice, you will need to do a lot amount of studying to make NYU.

exactly whats up there. I agree

My cousin graduated from NYU. Try taking AP classes and definitely get a higher ACT/ high SAT score.

PS* did anyone receive an acceptance/ rejection email from Hunter?

You will need really great test scores. Make sure you are taking the hardest classes possible and try to get a 4.0. Being an URM is a good hook.

Chance me back?
