please give me your honest opinion.. because i'm still weighing between U.S. mainland and Switzerland for hotel major... by the way I'm from Hawaii.

I am usually not so harsh, but if by new SAT you mean the one out of 2400, you have no chance at stern and need to look to less selective colleges.

what could be the minimum SAT? i'm thinking to retake in October, and take two SAT II in november (Korean and something else)

Thank you.

Even an internship can't cover some of low scored SAT portion?

I think given your current score, you should shoot for at least an 1800 on the new SAT. Your location looks like it could give you some weight, and if hotel management isn't a popular major at NYU Stern, you have a better shot I'm guessing.

im usually not so harsh as well... but a 1250.... is indeed far too low for nyu standard i would say (i dont think its even in the middle 50% range for the old SAT). And given the fact tht ur gpa arent high with a light courseload, and not the most rigourous available.. ur chances are very very low. The interns could be ur only 'hook', but im not sure if its rlly tht impressive wen ur surrounded by applicants with jobs etc and a lot better grades. Id say u definitely need to increase ur SAT for maybe a 1900 to have any real chance

sigh.. so SAT is the problem for everything....

well yeah, you barely got 50% of the points. Actually less, if you consider that everyone gets 200 points per section at the minimum.

He was converting his SAT scores to the old 1600 standard.

A 1250 is around 1870-1880 on a 2400 scale.

By the way, (I want to do NYU stern also, but kind of afraid of the cash factor) you are not allowed to apply to the business school until the end of your Sophmore year. NYU now has a "special" business program for the most brilliant business students to begin their freshman year rather than their junior.

You have a good shot for NYU ED if you up your SATS to around a 1300, but then you got to reapply later for the business school, which is quite competitive (almost everywhere).

Your GPA is great dont listen to anyone else (unless your on a 4.5 / 5.0 scale), get your SAT's up a tiny and hope for the best from NYU!

I am pretty sure that when you apply to NYU, you must apply to a specific college (i.e. Stern, Tisch, etc). If you do get into Stern, you don't have to reapply for their undergrad business program. They are a select few colleges that have a direct entry program and I am sure NYU is one of them. You don't have to apply after 2 years

You have to however apply to a Graduate business school later on if you want to do you MBA and such.

Correct me if I am wrong but I was under the impression that NYU business is a direct entry program from the start.

Thank You

roo.. oh no, my new SAT is 1250.. sorry if there was misunderstanding. I'm an immigrant by the way. Can that be put into consideration? (well there are many smart immigrants who can score 2400.. but not me)

I'm weighing between Switzerland vs U.S mainland good school ED (i'm at Hawaii) vs U.S mainland safe school RD..

I think Switzerland is bit easier, because some schools don't look at SAT, and this school called Ecole hoteliere de Lausanne (first hotel school in the world) have minimum of SAT 1000. but the thing is they accept so little people.. and they're applying from 40 different countries.. I know one school that only accept 10 students per sem.
Lausanne school accepts about 200.

Umm ok. If you have 1250 out of 2400 how could you even think about applying to NYU? If you wanted to go there, you would need a bare minimum of a 1800 SAT. And that still is probably too low to get in.

I think you need to choose far less selective schools.
