Tandon is getting tougher to get in over the past few years. Pretty sure your GPA is fine (3.6+ is good for Tandon). I would say ACT is a little low, maybe bump it up to a 30. You have pretty good extra curriculars. I would say maybe a 40% chance to get in. Maybe get some sort of major related internship or experience to really show that you have some passion for your major. GL

Just want to ask here. Does one generally need to have taken (and scored well) in AP Physics and/or AP Chemistry to have a good change in getting accepted at NYU Tandon (Majors: construction management or civil engineering)? I’m asking because the private school my daughter attends offers AP Calculus up to B/C, but no APs in any of the science disciplines except AP Bio. Albeit all science courses in her school are taught at the honors level. Still, not sure how Tandon admissions will view an applicant for an engineering major who has not taken at least AP Physics. Thanks.

I don’t think you need AP Chemistry but AP Physics will help along with of course AP Calc. However, they still offer these classes at Tandon; but if you score high on the AP tests (4 or 5), you could skip these classes. I’m applying for EE and I’ve found a typical schedule at http://engineering.nyu.edu/academics/programs/electrical-engineering-bs/schedule . For example MA-UY 1024 and 1124 are the same as AP Calculus AB and BC. PH-UY 1013 and 2023 is AP Physics C. As you can see, they still offer these courses, so I thinks its fine if your daughter has at least taken some sort of Physics class, not necessarily AP Physics. If her stats are fine, she should get in even without AP Physics.
