Chances at NYU, Yale, etc?

Hello all,

I would greatly appreciate any evaluation of my chances of getting into...
- NYU
- Yale (Reach!..)
- Tufts (Reach)
- Boston College

I will definitely modify my college list; however, these are the only ones I have at this point in time.

High schools: Rising senior here. I started HS midyear freshman year at an international school in Asia with very weak academics, then moved to the US for junior year. I failed at gaining recognition at my new, large public school and have not been able to secure any officer positions in any clubs.

I initially wanted to go to NYU, however my family has encouraged me to aim for Yale and other colleges, as I would be a Yale legacy. I figured I might as well check my (meager) chances.

9th Grade GPA (UW): 3.72
10th Grade GPA (UW): 3.8
11th Grade First Semester GPA (W): 4.4

A's in all classes except math, in which I have a B. Therefore my calculated GPA confuses me.

Current APs:
- Lang and Comp
- US History
- BC Calculus
- Chemistry
- Computer Science

Senior Year AP Courseload:
- Physics
- Biology or Psychology
- French
- Literature
- Government

Clubs/Academics:
- Interact Club (Very involved)
- American Red Cross
- NHS
- Mu Alpha Theta
- French Honor Society
- School Math Team

Multiple science, math, and computer science awards at first school, probably not getting any at second school.

SAT Score (One sitting, kind of forgot I registered and didn't study. Second score will be much higher.): 2110
Will be taking Math II, Chemistry, Biology, and French SAT II's.

I volunteer at a well-known hospital, tutor math and french, and have an internship at an Ivy over the summer.
I realize my EC's are weak.

Thank you all in advance.

I think you have self evaluated yourself relatively well. You know what you need to work on and you have plans. I would say your depictions about the above are accurate. I would place BC at a lowish reach at this point, while NYU may be a high match or reach depending on the major and school. Having straight As except for one class is definitely a plus. However, I think colleges recognize that you haven’t necessarily been at one school long enough to establish yourself completely. So perhaps show how your experiences have challenged you or helped you become who you are today. It is more about the depth of the involvement than the position itself. Good luck.

What’s your 11th grade UW?
