<pre><code> She Can Tell Her Kids She Went Through Hell

Sitting alone on her living room chair, Lily, her body shaken, had pain surge through her stomach. Her hands pushing the couch away, Lily got up in agony, walked steadily to the kitchen, and while her legs shook, she fell. “Why now?, Why the hell now?” Lily shouted out. Sweat covered Lily’s face, tears coming down from her eyes. “My baby can’t die” Lily thought to herself. “I’ve already lost one before, I can’t lose another. Goddammit, I’m all alone. I don’t want to die along.”

Lying on the floor, the first person that came to Lily’s mind was her husband. “Fred, he’ll know what to do. He’ll be my knight in shining armor.” Lily crawled on her bare legs towards the phone. The yellow phone, bright as the sun, lay upon the kitchen top. Lily grabbed it swiftly and began to dial. 7, 6, 5, 2, 3, 4, 1. Nothing. Just Nothing. No dial tone, no beep, just silence. “Aww ****, I knew I should have paid the phone bill.” With the phone line cut off, Lily had no one to ask for help. Her only son stood by, gazing at the suffering of his mom. “I might not see him again” Lily quietly said to herself. It’s time.” Lily pushed, moaned and pushed some more. It wouldn’t come out, no matter how hard she tried. “I suppose my baby and I are going to see death soon. I can’t handle it.” Wanting the baby to survive, Lily did the unthinkable.

A long, sharp, silver blade lay upon the table countertop. Reaching up and grabbing the knife and the bottle of liquor next to it, Lily brought them close to her chest. With her first sip of the liquor and praying to the heavens above, the knife was soon at her waistline. “Umm…if you hear me, please let me live.” Anxiety overcame Lily and fear became her worst enemy.

Slowly, the tip of the knife was inserted into her belly; Lily chugging the drink down as it crept along. The knife shifted along the rim of the belly, Lily screaming in pain each time. The bottle of hard liquor was three-quarters finished and Lily was dizzy as hell. At last, she threw the knife away, dug her hands into her stomach and pulled out her newborn child. Lily has just performed a caesarian section on herself. With her last glimpse of breath, she cried out to her son, “Go call the neighbors” and with that, she lost consciousness.
