Hello all, so I’m sure people have posted on here asking this question before but I figured I’d ask it again. I’m looking to transfer to The Ohio State University for the fall of 2017 as a sophomore. I didn’t apply coming out of HS so I’m not positive of my chances.
In HS, I had about a 3.2 GPA and my ACT was a 24 while my SAT was around a 1700 and in my first semester at my current college I got a 3.5 (16 credits). I am out of state, not sure if that matters much or not.
Thank you all in advance for your help!
I’d say you have a moderate chance of getting in as a transfer. High school GPA is a bit low, even for OSU transfers, but your college GPA is decent and could be the key of redemption. I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high, but be sure to include a personal statement in your application even though it is optional. Also, it seems more competitive for out-of-state applicants to get in than it is in-state transfers.
Thanks for your reply. I don’t know how much it matters but I was also really involved playing a varsity sport, was in a musical, was in a bunch of clubs, etc
High school things aren’t taken into an account if you are transferring from another college. Your current college GPA is fine, and you shouldn’t have a problem getting in. There are many people with worse stats that transfer in.
Also, if high school things were taken into account, there would be a lot of people who would never get into OSU as transfers. It is MUCH easier to transfer in than get in as an incoming freshmen.
Great, thanks for the response. Thats good to hear!
Wow, already heard back from OSU and got in. Crazy how quickly they sent out a decision. Only took about a week or two.
