I am a rising senior and am wondering what my chances are at Penn, Dartmouth and Brown ED. I have researched each of these schools extensively and would be happy to go to any of them. I want to use my ED to the greatest advantage and would like to know what my chances are at each school if I were to apply to one of these schools ED.

Investment Club (10-12) - member
Spanish National Honor Society
Job - Basketball Referee for local league (interesting experiences mb incorporate into essay)
Volunteering:
Ronald Mcdonald House - cooked dinner for guests more than once

Cooked for 20 needy people during holiday season
Hospital Volunteer this summer- working 50 hours this summer and in fall will probably be in an emergency room program.
I'm unsure of my major as of now but know I'm going premed.
Thanks in advance for your responses.

You would probably have the best chance applying ED to Dartmouth, just b/c their ED acceptance rate is highest. Your ECs are decent and your test scores are okay, but could be improved.

id look more into non-ivies unless you pull a 2200+ this fall

I think Brown ED is a good possibility. Pull your ACT up a bit and you’ll have about the same chances as everyone else applying. I wouldn’t give up on it.

I think ud get in for Dartmouth, help me out??

Most likely rejections from all three due to relatively weak GPA and sub-par ACT&SAT scores. Anything is possible though.

Holy Cross and Tufts have great pre-med.

I know my stats don’t exactly scream out ivy league but I think with good essays and good recs I’ll have a shot. Anybody else have opinions?

If you retake the ACT and get at least a 33, you may have a fair shot. Your EC’s aren’t the greatest, which will hurt. Make sure to apply to a few safeties. And definitely retake the SAT II Physics.

Chance me back!

I agree they will all be tough. A good essay dies not make up for low stats.

That said, without a doubt, non Wharton Penn would be the easiest admit here. Penn is the only of these 3 where it helps to apply early as an unhooked candidate. A higher ED admit rate dies not mean it’s easier to get in, colleges use ED to admit hooked candidates and it may look like an easier admit at the smaller Dartmouth, but it’s not, Penn has the higher overall admit rate.

I was reading in a college prep book that an essay will only make or break a student in the 5-8 range (1-10, 10 being a great applicant).

And to me, it seems like you’re a 6 for the ivy pool. So, the essay will be pretty important.

Would raising my ACT to a 33 really make that big of difference? I mean if thats the case I will work my tail off to get it.

I believe so. At many Ivies and other top schools, 31 is in about the 25th percentile and 33 is about the 50th percentile.
