Chances at Penn State - University Park?

to everyone that thinks their stats suck, here are mine LOL

GPA: will be 3.4 on a 4 scale by the end of this year if I continue to get all As. (yes, I know. bad. had a few Cs and Bs freshman/sophomore year. )
SAT: 1750
AP Classes: took one sophomore year, one junior year, and will take two senior year.
Honors classes: everything I took not AP is honors, with the exception of 4 regular classes.
ECs: I have a job at Dairy Queen. I am in French club, Art club, and programming club for two years now.
Leadership: absolutely none! I am planning on volunteering over summer though.
Intended Major: Geosciences

^ so, yea. pretty bad. I probably should add I’m currently a junior. Any way to improve my chances? I know I could retake the SAT, but they’re changing it after the one this week, so I doubt I’d do good without anything to prepare with. Would taking the ACT and doing good on that help even the slightest? (also, I’m Asian, and I know that’s just gonna make it worse. )

Very slim chance on getting into Penn State with a GPA of 3.4. To even be considered as a competitive applicant, you’d need AT LEAST a 3.7 or 3.8. Do consider retaking the SAT as you need to get your score into the 2000’s. I would say do consider some safety schools. Your EC’s also aren’t very interesting so make sure to up your GPA and SAT scores.

Your GPA and SAT are bringing you down. Penn State isn’t looking too good for you :frowning: Maybe look at other colleges?

I got into DUS at university park with a 3.21 unweighted 3.45 weighted and a 1750 SAT score 2 days ago. it seems like the average of 3.55-3.97 and 1750-2000 on the sat has gone down a little. So there is always a chance but you have to apply DUS Summer for University Park

Check out the results thread, because while there have been unexpected acceptances (above) there have also been unexpected rejections, like a 4.0 UW student.
