Penn State is one of my top choices, but I feel like it’s a reach for me, especially with nursing being my major. My SAT is pretty decent (1440) but my GPA is 3.8 weighted and 3.3 unweighted. I think my school may calculate GPA a little differently than most places, so the one they calculate from my SRAR may be a little higher, but it’s still low. For my activities I have marching band, National Honor Society, and Key Club. My honors are National Hispanic Scholar and Trustee Award (top 10%) for freshman year. What do y’all think my chances are?
Nursing is extremely competitive at Penn State. If your school generously weights your classes, that may be a problem. A 3.3 UW is generally not enough for nursing.
Another option for you is one of the Penn State commonwealth campuses that has nursing. You have to stay at that campus all 4 years however. Penn State Altoona and Penn State Behrend (Erie) have excellent nursing programs.
