I go to a notoriously difficult high school in the bay area. When talking to my graduated friends, I notice my school has a little “boost”(example: 3.5 kids regularly get into Purdue CS). I don’t know of many kids that went to UoM TC, but based on naviance a lot of people apply and a decent number of kids get in. Average GPA is a 3.51 and average act that gets into UoM is a 31.

I believe I took a pretty rigorous courseload and freshman and sophomore year. I tried to do sports but freshman year I got injured which took a toll on my grades. To make matters worse, those sports didn’t even get reported as I didn’t complete either season.

EC’s:

Cello for the last 7 years, played in the schools orchestra
Speech and Debate officer
FBLA officer
I do volunteer work at a low income area elementary school and teach kids. I’ve been doing this for the last 4 years.

I worked in KFC last summer. I’m working at Kumon(tutoring service for those that don’t know) right now and I want to do some other tutoring jobs.

Also, if anyone wants to give any insight on physiology as a major at UoM TC please tell me what you know. I haven’t heard much from it on other forums but it seems like the perfect major for me.

First of all, UMTC looks at GPA/class rank, ACT/SAT, and course load as primary factors in an admissions decision. Subject scores, EC’s etc. are secondary factors.

Second, there are two tracks for physiology and you need to explore both to figure out which college of entry you wish to specify. UMTC admits by college, and CBS is harder to get into than CLA.

Good luck!

CLA is where I want to go.

For CLA the uw gpa is a bit low but ACT is great and hopefully will offset.

Good luck!

Thank you!
