Chances at possible ivy/top tier economics program?

Hey all,

I’m currently a sophomore at NYU enrolled in CAS majoring in Pre-Business/Economics and Mathematics. If you wouldn't mind could you just run through my resume/transcript and give me an honest evaluation?

My dream would be to transfer to UPenn, Dartmouth, Cornell or Brown. I don't expect to get in to any of them, but I would at least like to try. I'm very open to suggestions of other schools with good economics departments. The only reason I'm trying to transfer is because of financial reasons. I enjoy NYU but living in New York City is extremely expensive and I honestly don't think my parents can afford it outside of tuition. So really there isn't anything I'm looking for or not looking for in a new school because I adapt pretty well to new environments. So I would definitely be receptive to any schools with a good economics program outside of those mentioned.

In addition to my resume, I will be interning at JPMorgan Chase over the summer in New York City, I just haven’t had a chance to add it yet.

In terms of recommendations, I could definitely get amazing ones from my two mathematics teachers. Even though I got a B in Calculus II class, my teacher told me I was the hardest working student she has ever had. Also, I had the same teacher for Social Foundations I and Topics Modern Society. He said he would be eager to write me a recommendation and I think it would be very good since he is nationally known. My manager at Best Buy wrote me a recommendation too, so I could send that if necessary.

Sorry about the length, but I just want to be thorough to get the best advice. Thank you for suffering through it haha. But seriously, thank you for any help, I truly appreciate it.

I'd suggest:

Cornell
UChicago
URochester
Carnagie Mellon
Lehigh U
Vandy
Emory
Trinity (CT)
Occidental
Franklin & Marshall

UChicago - very slim chance
Cornell- OK chance
URochester-good chance
Carnegie Mellon-decent chance
Vandy - decent chance
Emory - decent chance

Add U Michigan, UNC, WustL

are those schools known for economics?

UChicago certainly is. But that's quite a long shot

ok, i won't even try then. would it be worth trying any ivies?
