I know these colleges' admissions decisions are a crap-shoot anyways, but thanks in advance for your help :-).

You look like a great person and a good student, but as you realise your SAT II's are not going to help at the most selective schools. Of the schools that you mentioned, Princeton and Yale are major reaches, Dartmouth ED is a reach (but you may make it), and Bowdoin and Cornell are reachy matches. Colby is a match.

Since you are interested in pre-med, one of your considerations should be the opportunity to work with professors and obtain stellar grades as an undergrad. This is more likely to occur at a Colby than a Yale, where you will be competing with really high-powered undergrad and grad students for time, attention and resources. Certainly keep the ivies on your list (especially Cornell), but think about adding another match or safety. Skidmore, Vasser, Macalester come to mind. And good luck on your ED application!

thanks :-)

isn't 30 on ACT= 1340 SAT I?

yup, I took those around the same time I took my first SAT and got a 1330 on that...soo...lol, they correspond

bump it up

...anyone?

Don't send your ACT!

wow, nice ecs and gpa but what happened to your scores (low sats and ap). still think your choices are reaches. upon closer inspection, your ecs arent too impressive... im tired

Yeah sorry man, I am seeing defferal then rejection. Your hope is to cram like hell for the December SATIIs and raise them to 700ish.

25% of current students at Harvard have SAT Is at or below 1370. And every other school in the country has even more. You aren't going to get any help from your SATs, so the question is what else are you offering that they'll see that will get you in? (is there an athletic hook here? Have you contacted coaches?)

No you're wrong, at MIT and Caltech, apparently no student has SAT I at or below 1370.

At MIT, the average 25th percentile for the four most recent years ranged between 1370 and 1420. So you are correct that 25% weren't below that. But literally hundreds were.

Let's take your point, though, at every national university in the country other than Caltech and, maybe, MIT, and every top 50 liberal arts college in the country, at least 25% of the student body had less than a 1370, and at 90% of these, many more than that.

That's not true, my friend got into MIT last year with a 1240 (760M, 480V), and stats that weren't all that great. I don't know about Caltech and I would assume it's much harder to get into Caltech than MIT as the latter is more of a holistic process.. My point is this: if you have something to offer the school, they may be able to overlook your performance on tests. Just make sure the other aspects of your app make up for it - after all, it is a competition and those who compete against you may have same stats plus stellar test scores. Best of luck to you regardless, and I think you have a shot at Dartmouth, Cornell, Bowdoin, and Colby. Yale and Princeton are reaches, but not many can call those matches or even match-reaches.

thanks for your input guys...I'm gonig to cram for the Jan SATIIs if I get rejected or deferred from Dartmouth

U have no dedication or hooks

I have dedication in sports and youth group. (I don't really want to go to Princeton or Yale actually, was just curious).

gHost, are you going to Princeton? I hear some (not all though- for all of you nice Princtonians) kids there are jerks...you strike me as a princtonian.

u don't WANT TO go to princeton or Yale???? that doesn't sound like words of ccers lol

lol, Well not so much that i don't want to go, I haven't really checked them out, but friend of mine viseted Princeton and didn't care much for the people he met.. though might've ben a rough day or something?lol... And Yale... well haven't looked it up, but I don't think I want to invest the money in applying there because they are a bit too much of reach schools and I don't even know if I'd be happy there.
