Chances at Princeton/ other ivy leagues

What should I do to improve my chances?

None of the seniors this year got into ivy leagues, but 2 seniors from 2 years ago got into Harvard and Yale.
My school only offers 7 AP classes. By the time I graduate, I would have taken 6 APs.

Sorry bud, but you're not getting in.
I don't care what excuses you have for your scores, but they are dismal.
Nothing will off-set them. I am super curious how you are valedictorian of 500 kids with a 640 math II and 1640 SAT. You must have some crazy inflated grades.

Any other opinions?

Currently, I'm studying for the ACT during the Summer.

sorry, i have to agree with the other poster. 1640? that's incredibly low. also, your ACT scores that you have listed are not impressive either. unless you can miraculously bring up your scores like crazy, i don't think you have a chance.

why are you so bad at English? 490 and 20? i would spend a lot of time improving that area.

You aim way too high for your results. If you really want a top school, search a college that is ranked as one of the best for your desired major, like Caltech or MIT for science and engineering or Middlebury for languages. Also, try to choose at least some safety schools.

Yale, harvard, stanford, ucla? come on, get a dose of reality. It will be hard for you to get into most of the UC's. Besides, if you did study up your scores outrageously, it would be artificial, and you wouldn't be able to keep up at HYPS.

Yeah I have no idea what kind of school you go to. What are the other kids' SAT scores? You cannot be Vale.

I applaud you, a valedictorian with a 1640 SAT score must work EXTREMELY hard.

Unfortunately, your scores will put you out of the HYPS range.

His score is actualy a 1150.. which in some ways is better than 1640, but not HYPSMDu level..

^love how you had on Duke, lol

yeah man, it's not happening with a 1640. sorry

Sorry but this just shows you are an extermre nerd and a bThe MAth IIC can be studied for. If your math grades are so high how could you have got that score? Its ok I won't get in either.

Geez take a breath everyone. I agree...the SAT and ACT scores need to come up before you can seriously consider any of the schools you have listed.

I assume that you are a very intelligent, hardworking kind of guy but that your school is less than stellar? (Let me know if I'm completely wrong here...I just thought that that would explain why you are val. with great grades but mediocre sat scores..)

Well, it is kind of true that my school is less than stellar. My school's test scores in the past school year demonstarted. My school got rated a 1 for its tests scores and environment. It's ironic that one of the best schools in the nation is a town over. They got rated a 10 in both categories.

I've always had to study for everything, so all I'm hoping is that I get over a 32 or more to get into a school, such as Princeton, because I want to get used to their work load before I might apply to schools, such as Harvard Law.
I want to make the transition between undergrad and grad work easier.

kill yourself on the act and apply to a place like cornell

I guess you go to an inner city school and you are an URM. You will have a good chance at UCLA and even H or Y. Do'nt worry.

Actually, I'm Filipino. Hopefully, colleges don't uses race as a consideration too much because I don't think I might be classified as URM.

I'm taking the ACT in Sept., so I'll find out whether or not I have a chance then. Hopefully, I do.

Oooops......Philipino consider as Asian......in that case......get yourself ready for UCI or UCSB etc.....but, what do I know???!!!!

I wouldn't get your hopes up. Sorry, but the test scores have GOT to be at least solid.

The valedictorian of this year's Senior class had high 600s(around 640-680) and got in to USC and UCLA. She is also Filipino. If I get a high ACT and pull off good essay, I'll be ok. Hopefully, it'll be good enough for Stanford, Cornell, UCLA, etc.
