hey everyone, im new to CC but maybe u could share some of ur insights with a dillettante like me! heres my profile

ec's:

summer activities:
well i live kinda in the middle of nowhere lol so i just read stories to my grandma 2 days a week lol

i know im rly involved w/ school and stuff im in a ton of clubs and im class president, but i know even ppl like me who are veruy active in school can sometimes get rejected. so can u pls enlighten me and let me know what u think my odds are?? thx!

SAT? ACT? You’ll want to work on that GPA.

you’re definitley involved, but i think you may have a hard time because of your gpa. It’s not low for most schools, but average GPAs at Ivies are usually in the 3.8-4.0 unweighted range. then again, if you can do well on the SAT or ACT it could really help! good luck :)

act is a 27, and i havent taken the sat yet. do i have a chance at PRINCETON?

For our sake, can you please use correct punctuation?

Sorry to break it to you, but a 27 ACT doesn’t even come close to cutting it. And the gpa is not nearly good enough. Academics is #1, so without those, you ain’t gettin’ into any ivy let alone Princeton.

work on upping that ACT and GPA and you might have a shot

Your EC’s may be involved but they don’t show extreme skill, and I’m not sure if they show passion. Your GPA is somewhat low and your ACT very low… sorry, but I don’t think you have a chance.

The GPA is low for an Ivy-League applicant. But there is still a chance, if you score extremely well on your SAT’s. Winning national awards helps, as well.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you have a really really low chance. Read some of the chance threads around here, or check the CollegeBoard stats. Most of those accepted to Princeton have 2200+ SAT (or 32+ ACT), 3.9+ GPA, tons of extracurriculars (and officer positions/heavy involvement), national awards, etc… Honestly, right now I’d suggest that you just hold onto the $80.

Consider a state college, unless you plan on participating in more prestigious extracurricular activities and raising your ACT or SAT score.

What are your EC’s?

There’s no way you’re serious. Surely you’re ■■■■■■■■

@ burchmatt
That’s a bit harsh.

Being student congress president will help, but I have no idea what gsa, sos, and sadd are.

pleas pots your stats properly if you want proper chancing :)

gsa is gay-straight alliance, and SADD is Students Against Destructive Decisions.

My GPA is low but it is weighted! (I’m in honors classes)

And I’m gonna try to study to bring it up to a 36 guys, and I’ll try the sat (maybe that’s more my niche)

Also, I think I have LOTS of ec’s:

 1. JV cheerleader (I know it’s JV but I really am good) - most improved award
 2. Student congress president (elected by the people, for the ppl lol)
 3. GSA (gay/straight alliance)
 4. SOS (seaholm offers support)
 5. SADD (students against destructive decisions)
 6. Choir
 7. Glee club

Come on guys taking all that into account now do I stand a chance?

Princeton’s still going to be difficult. The valedictorian of my class with a 4.0 UW/105 weighted GPA (out of 100), 2350 SAT, and numerous national accolades got waitlisted. Unless the school you go to is a top 10 nationwide school you’ll need luck on your side.

But burchmatt is an ass, don’t listen to that clown.

Thank you, Tenors, for the useful, constructive advice.

ya burchmatt–and everyone else here who chooses to view me as subordinate to them–needs to get a life

If I were you though, if you have no other schools that you really want to apply EA/RD, you might as well go SCEA Princeton, that might be where you have a slight chance. Of course, I assume that there’s other schools you’ve looked into and you may have considered applying early to them too.

What schools would you consider??

And I’m going to be on varsity cheer team next year, I should mention
