Chances at Princeton?

<p>Hey all. I really like Princeton's undergrad studies in Economics and Political Science and harbour a fantasy of getting into the Woodrow Wilson School eventually...Can you please look my stats over and tell me my chances? Thank you in advance!</p>

<p>Middle Eastern Male from East Long Island...</p>

<p>Stats:
SAT 1: 800 V/780 M/710 W = 2290 Total
SAT 2: 740 American/720 World/690 Math 1c (Don't know what happened)/680 Chemistry.
-No ACT.</p>

<p>AP's/IB/College Course: 5's on American/ European/Politics, 4 on Chemistry, 6 on Math SL, A- from Syracuse University in WRT105 and ETS143.</p>

<p>Course Load:
-Most rigorous course load available. I also was accelerated a year in advance so I came into 9th grade taking 10H English or Chem Honors, instead of standard 9H English or Biology Honors, etc etc.
-I am in the Academy of Finance program within my school, take about 2 college level business courses through local SUNY schools a year.
-I opted to follow a passion for the Arts and take an Introductory Art class freshman year, and follow through on 3 years of Sculpture in the best Sculpture program offered in NY state.
-Taking BC Calc, AP English, AP Physics B, 5IB Spanish this year (mainly because there aren't many other AP Classes for me to take).
-Pursued Japanese one year and study it independently with a tutor now.</p>

<p>Rec's/Essays:
-My teacher recommendations were from my Business/History/Sculpture teachers, all stellar and very specific.
-I interned directly under the President of a multi-billion company, he wrote a great rec too.
-My common app personal statement deals with a random obsession I had with a certain exotic animal when I was a kid, and how I pursued seeing it from the handful of zoos in America that have it, all the way to recently going to its native habitat in the Outback to see it in the wild.
-My "person who influenced you?" essay deals with my anarchist uncle and how he introduced me to politics at an early age, and its impact, as well as some cute anecdotes about him.
-Finally, my essay that deals with the Einstein quote, talks about this one time I ventured out of my hotel in the jungle to go climb some Mayan ruins and see the sunrise over the treetops, which left me in awe.</p>

<p>E.C.'s
-Vice President of DECA Business Club
-Business Honor Society
-Art Honor Society (only sophomore to be inducted).
-National Honor Society (chaired project to paint mural at local Diabetes research center).
-Varsity Winter/Spring track for all 4 years with several county titles and state qualifiers under my belt. Cross Country as well, but only to get into shape...I suck at distance running If I was slightly better, I'd have tried to get recruited, blah.
-Over 1,000 hours spent volunteering at local Diabetes research center.
-One summer volunteered for Audubon Society, another summer went to NSLC International Diplomacy camp.
-Travel Soccer - Division 2 for basically my entire grade school life.
-Set up a community website for my high school that is very active and has hundreds of members from both currently attending students and graduates.</p>

<p>Odd things:
-I'm fluent in Turkish in addition to my studies in Spanish/Japanese.
-Have extensive travel experience to every continent expect Antarctica, essays reflect that.
-My closest cousin donated the Byrd Building too...but it's cheesy to try and play that card when you're not the donor's kid. I think its looked down on.</p>

<p>lay it on me!</p>

<p>from what I see, you have a solid shot....and I don't think anyone can tell you anything more specific than that. </p>

<p>Although...you are leaving out something that Princeton will consider to be rather important: YOUR GRADES/CLASS RANK</p>

<p>good luck</p>

<p>oh snap! knew I forgot something. All I know is that I'm top 10%. I would be more like top 5% or so if my first two years hadn't been absolutely insane due to taking advanced sophomore/junior classes right out of the gates.</p>

<p>anyone else? I really like Princeton big time. I was born in Princeton and my family has kept the condo that we used to live in at the time in the hopes that I'd go there. Should I mention this for "I really want to go here" points, or would it come off kind of elitist/pompous.</p>

<p>get your sat2's up :)
Other than that you have an shot, with those scores...you will have to be lucky like me :(</p>

<p>Yea, I'm glad you are applying this year, because if you were applying next year you would definitely get in before me...and we can't have that. You look like a very strong applicant...best of luck and Happy Holidays!!!!</p>

<p>his class rank is 41/449 by the way</p>

<p>you definitely have as decent of a shot as anyone else, especially with an impressive intership under a company president. What exotic animal did you pursue? lol.</p>

Thank You in advance</p>

<p>what the hell? didn't you just post this in the "what are my chances?" category.</p>

<p>lmao, this is rich :D</p>

<p>Princeton Freak you ahve just as good a chance as Holyspirit ;)</p>

<p>it's all up to the adcoms and your essays :)</p>

<p>You paid for your essays, thats messed up.</p>

<p>While it's messed up to do that, I think its the logical thing to do if you lack any morals or values. The college admissions process is pretty cutthroat...My family is filled with English majors though, so I think I'm safe.</p>

<p>Princetonfreak, I hope an adcom reads these boards and recognizes your application.</p>

<p>I win, I got clergy.</p>

<p>So I've figured out why this kid aint getting in, he's an idiot.</p>

<p>Paying for essays is, as my father says, "d-u-m dumb"</p>

<p>Holyspirit vs. Princeton Freak, eh?</p>

<p>pfft... i got you both beat with my 2180 + subpar gpa ;)</p>

<p>I've got all three of you beat...hehe</p>

<p>"My closest cousin donated the Byrd Building too...but it's cheesy to try and play that card when you're not the donor's kid. I think its looked down on."
Try having this cousin writing you a supplemental recommendation, making sure it shows that he knows you closely. This will give you a most excellent shot at admission, I think-all colleges know to respect the $$$. I'm not kidding. Do it.</p>

<p>princetonfreak: why are all ur posts related to ur chances? u know ur answer so u can stopping asking if u'll get in or not. btw u arent bizman under a different username r u?</p>
