Summer Stuff:
NJ Gov School for Engineering and Technology junior year

Work Experience:
N/A

Volunteer Hours:
100 something?

Other Interesting Stuff:
Writing my own syllabus for Multivariable Calculus/Linear Algebra

My science/math grades are excellent, but my GPA is lower than my test scores. French is a C junior year (very worried), but everything else is either A or close to low A.

hmmm…those are some rocking AMC/AIME scores. I think you have excellent chances at Princeton, and even MIT/Caltech. The only thing that should worry are grades/class rank, which could be better, considering you’re asian (yeah, it sucks, I know). Maybe you can somehow explain the C…

An Asian applying to Princeton with a C in junior year is, unfortunately for you, a tough sell. Hopefully they’ll be able to overlook the C because it is in a foreign language class and you are planning to major in basically the polar opposite academic area, otherwise everything looks amazing! Good luck!

All-Eastern Honors Orchestra 1st violin

wow.

If this is all legit (which I highly doubt), in everywhere.

Does my other stuff really do that much to overlook my poor grades?

Also, which schools would be reach/match/safety?

jesus. If your school doesnt report rank your solid.

Makes me feel sad looking at these chance threads.

so C in french in junior year won’t affect anything? that comes after an A freshman year, B sophomore year (in french)

I think you have a good chance. The syllabus is cool.

Wow, you pwned the AMC/AIME. A lot of people from my school got into HYP with far fewer achievements. You have a shot at probably any school in the nation, whether it is Harvard, MIT, Princeton.

asian is not urm my friend, it is the exact opposite…

That C could hurt you a lot…esp. because it is in junior year

But i still think you have a decent shot

@ib612, yea I meant to write “no; asian”

@IndianPwnerDude: their grades were probably better, right?

bump 10chars

I would say you have a better chance at middle and lower ivies than HYP, although they are not out of the question. Try ED if you can at your favorite ivy besides Princeton since you can only apply RD there.

Chance me? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/732738-i-am-not-applying-college-i-am-applying-nyu-ed.html

Any ideas for reach/match/safety?

u’ll get in, first yur from new jersey so that helps, second yur well rounded with good acad and ec’s finally u have so many awards to brag about (most of em, i dont even no what they r)
i dont no if being asian helps tho with all this affirmative action stuff

reach harvard yale mit stanford caltech duke
match emory
safety rutgers, georgia tech
just an estimate tho

speaking of C’s and low grades…if i got a final grade of an A in a class, and an A in every term, but bombed my midterm w/ say a C+ on a really off day, would the colleges ever even know considering ti didn’t effect my grade at all?

I don’t see why they would know…
@92jjxx: being azn would hurt me
