Bump. Please Help.

Bump.I would like some input.

A rep from Wake visited our high school last week. Based on what he said, I think it might be a reach for you for Regular Decision - but that is merely conjecture based on how this rep conveyed application chances. His advice was apply Early Decision unless test scores and GPA were at top of any range you can find on the intranet.

My son was accepted RD last yr with similar stats (GPA and SAT). It was their most competitive RD yr. He had a lot of leadership positions and very solid essays and recs which I’m sure helped. Wake cares about demonstrated interest. Did you visit, interview, etc? He wrote about that experience on one of the supplemental questions. Also a white male from FL. I think you are competitive. Just so hard to tell these days. What other schools are you interested in? I only ask that because Wake was high on his list, but not his first choice (tie for two or three). He was very disappointed with his rejection from No. 1. Firmly believe things happen for a reason as I’m sure he would have enjoyed that school, BUT HE LOVES WAKE! It’s an amazing place and he couldn’t be happier with his choice. Lots of great schools out there.

Best of luck and Go Deacs!

My daughter has same SAT score 1420 and lower GPA (UW 3.84). She applied ED. However, she is an international student with a TOEFL score 103. I think her essays, ECs and recommendations are strong. How about her chance?

ED is certainly easier statistically, but you still have to have the competitive application. I don’t have any feel re international other than I know they want to increase that demographic. Last year ED was something like 45% accepted rate while RD was 25%. Statistics are hard to go by because you can always argue there were more competitive applications (percentage wise) in ED. Hard to know that.

Demonstrated interest is important. Can’t beat ED for demonstrating interest!

Good luck.

@maplefall

She probably has a strong chance, particularly being an early decision applicant.

Did she apply ED1 or ED2?

Let me know her decisions cause we have similar stats.

@FLBoy4994 She submitted ED1 early November and is eagerly waiting for the result. Good luck to you.
@rickle1 Thank you again for your comments. I think she is a good fit for the school. She is kind of artistic, amicable and multi-culturally adapted. Fingers crossed.
It seems to me that she has to compete against Chinese peers or other internationals, not Americans at all.
