Chances at Rice/Baylor Program

Hi Guys!
Im a junior in high school and im really interested in going to the Rice/Baylor Program. My close cousin told me about the program and i was very much interested in going such a university in my state that has such an excellent program. Im almost 16 but heres my stats:
Class Rank : Top 5.5% of Class
SAT: High 1800's low 1900's
GPA: I really dont know i havent looked it up yet. Will keep you posted as soon as i get my recent transcript
EC: Spanish Club, National Honor Society, Habitat For Humanity, Rotary Youth Leadership Program, Health Occupational Students of America, Student Council.
I have also numerous community service hours from volunteering at a local retirement home, to building homes for the needy. I have worked virgorously for the past 3 summers at a local Hospital and have gotten to the known the doctors pretty well( working as in volunteering).
Does anyone think i have a good chance if i get some Doctor Reccomendation letters and Good References?
And Can anyone make some suggestions for me?
Thanks Much Help Appreciated!
PS. Are their any other Med programs w/o MCAT in USA.?

Also
Many of my School Classes (6 classes out of 7) are AP/IB/GT/Pre-Ap Courses. I only have 1 non honors class. It was a real pain during my sophmore year but i think im doing the same thing my junior year! Also my High School is ranked 105 in the USA according to Newsweekly so its very competitive and many of the students here go to universities such as Tulance, Rice, Hardvard, UCLA, etc.
Still what are my chances?
I would like any sort of advice too!

Planning to do some Medical Research Summer of '08 and continue volunteering..
Chance me please!
and give me some advice

Rice/Baylor is very competitive. Also, now, since Rice dropped Interim Decision, it seems like they will only consider ED aceptees for the program, so make sure you want to go to Rice regardless.
I'd bring up that SAT and really work to emphasize your passion for medicine, maybe intern or shadow a doctor, become an EMT, become the president of your health club, and really consider why you want to be a doctor..

oh.. dang that stinks
so if i apply i have to go to Rice? is their anyway you can drop out of Rice if you dont get into Rice/Baylor Program?

well, before, you could apply Interim and still be considered for Rice/Baylor (you didnt have to commit to Rice) but now, Im assuming that since they dropped ID, you have to apply ED to be considered.
Basically, you would have to go to Rice no matter what.

I don't think Rice will force you to apply ED to be considered. It'll probably be something like Northwestern's HPME program where you must submit your RD application by December 1st. This is speculation, but forcing students to apply ED is kind of harsh and would lower the quality of the applicant pool to Rice/Baylor.

But given that, the program is highly competitive, a reach for everyone. The SAT score is on the low side for Rice in general and would make it hard for you to get in especially to Rice/Baylor.

thats a good point..i see where you are coming from
Wish we could get an official answer

hmm...try to improve rank and sat and ec's....if you're in state, it's a lot easier to get in...

Um..I believe its harder to get into rice if you are from texas

i think its easier. Isn't it true that if your in top 10% you get automatic admission? ill deffinately have my class rank jump a bunch by senior year! and SAT will go up
Just remember guys.. Im a Sophmore in HS so yeah.

That rule is only for Public Universities in Texas

dang it..
well
that limits my chances into Rice...
give me the ideal GPA,Class Rank, SAT score, and EC's that would probably get me into Rice

well there really isnt an ideal, but, one student from each of the past two years at my school went to rice/baylor
Last year was a female half hispanic with a 4.0 UW, ranked 9/550, SAT 2200 (1470), 730 Math 2 720 Bio 690 US, and she had a bunch of ecs, medical ones including volunteering at the hospital and shadowing some doctors.
The Year before was an Indian male with a 4.0 UW, ranked 1/600, SAT 2360, not sure about subject test scores, and he did alot, shadowed doctors, volunteered, was an EMT..

Some other kids at my school got into rice, but i dont think any of them tried for the r/b.

Rice/Baylor program is selected after you accept admission to Rice. Your SAT score isn't likely to get you into Rice.

remember guys IM ONLY A SOPHMORE IN HIGH SCHOOL. ((HINT HINT I HAVE TIME TO IMPROVE))
so
if i get my SAT Score to like 2200 and bump my Class Rank up i should do fine?
i have plenty of EC's- have over 276+ hours working in a hospital, shadowing doctors/RN's, general stuff in the hospital; will be doing medical research; im in clinical rotation so im getting certified as a CNA, and plus i get hands on experience with patients and learn some medical experiences/skills.
Plus most of my reccomendations will be from Doctors/RN's.
anyone :)?
CHANCE ME

I'd like to apply to rice and a few ivy league schools, but its hard for me to figure out what these specific schools have to offer. Does anyone know if Rice has a cheerleading program?
thanks!

okay this is gonna sound superweird kunnel but i think i know you..do you go to mhs?

missed the soph part. In that case, yes, take practice tests every few weeks (available on-line) to improve your scores. Rice is a top 15 school, treat it that way.
