<p>I live in Texas and am considering psychology, engineering, political science or liberal arts as a major. I would like know what my chances are at the following schools and also which schools are good for which majors. </p>

I think these may be my shortcoming because other than soccer I do not have anything really outstanding and I haven't volunteered a great deal. </p>

<p>I have been playing club soccer competitively for 10 years now, have done well in many tournaments and during league play, and this takes up approximately 8-12 hours a week during the fall and spring.
I also played high school soccer during freshmen and sophmore year at the JV level.
Track during 11th grade just to stay in shape </p>

Counselor in training at a camp during summer between 10 and 11, received a leadership award.
Went to Turkey during the summer before 9th and 10th to improve my Turkish speaking skils (I am fluent)
I went to UC San Diego this summer to participate in the Academic Connections program and took a class on neurons.
Sixth place in Regional Editorial Writing Contest
I helped rebuild a house this spring and I will be doing Habitat for Humanity in the fall
First place in school catapult building contest. I also spent approximately 25 hours developing a potato cannon with a friend, which was an interesting experience. </p>

<p>Recommendations should be very good and essays will be either good or very good. </p>

<p>You = accepted. Nice job on the physics SAT II btw. The difficulty of that test scared me away.</p>

<p>I think the people who have commented are being too optimistic. Does anyone think that I'm right or that I'm just being overly pessimistic? Thanks again for your comments.</p>

<p>The only two schools of the ones you mentioned above that I am familiar with are the Plan II Honors at UT and Rice. Those are the ones my daughter has been looking into.</p>

<p>I'd say your chances are better than my daughter's and she's still applying to both. I do know that the Plan II program puts heavy emphasis on the essays and the senior schedule.</p>

<p>im in the same situation at u, my coursework is awesome like urs but my ecs are kinda lacking (none of those all state piano/ varsity football, stuff like that). </p>

<p>Ive also been pessemistic due to ecs. So im wondering why so many of u all are optimistic about his app. </p>

<p>you'd better get more specific on your interests cause thats a huge range to be considering from the colleges' perspective. BTW, I bet that study hall in freshmen year was real hard...har har</p>

<p>Study hall is going to hurt you very badly for college admissions. I say you forget about these schools and drop it a notch. At least be in AP Study Hall.</p>

<p>I think your record is outstanding but I have heard so many weird stories... such as girl at my daughter's HS who had very similar, excellent stats. Applied to 10 schools. Was WL or denied at all but one.... Harvard! So go figure, you can be strong enough to be admitted at Harvard and still be denied or WL at 9 other schools. So-- I would identify a few "sure things" -- solid matches & safety schools. Maybe somewhere in D3, where your soccer skills would be useful to a team? Somewhere offering merit aid to kids like you? Somewhere with EA option or rolling admissions? You will probably get in to some or even most of the list above, but you will have a back up in your pocket and you will sleep better from Dec through April.</p>
