Hey, I'm a senior in high school I'm wondering what my chances at getting into Rutgers are, I've already applied for fall 2007.

My stats are:

GPA 4.5 with inflation not sure of gpa without all inflation from my high school.
Class rank 39/725

Ap classes: Chem, Physics, Comp sci1, Comp sci2.
All other classes are honors besides english which is A.

SAT1 Math: 590 CR: 600 Writing: 580

Lacrosse Freshman year

What would be my chances of getting into Rutgers, did my sat scores hurt me to much? I also have been a NJ resident my entire life if that matters.

number one, nobody can predict what your chances are and the fact that 99.999% of the people who post on here are students just like yourself goes to cast doubt on the veracity of their prognosticating.

how is it that you managed to take 4 AP classes, all of which are math-related (with comp sci1 I assume you mean the AP CS A and with c. sci2, the AP CS AB class), and not score higher on math?!?! if i was you i would talk that angle up to the college admissions people and/or take the test again as soon as possible! After all, you've obviously gotten good grades in your advanced AP classes, and yet you did poorly on the basic material tested by the SAT. I would make sure to mention it, if I was you.

Yeah, I really don't know how it happened to tell you the truth, I am in Honors Calculus right now and I'm doing better than anyone in my class I have gotten 100's on every single test...I took the sat twice and those were my best scores...

The only thing I'm not sure of, the next SAT is coming up very soon and would it be too late to get my scores to colleges by the time they come out?

Well, I'm not a student, I've been out of school for 20 years, used to teach at some colleges, but now work as a senior manager at a major corporation ($9 billion/year in revenues) and got my MBA from UCLA--and I think making fun of these students on here who do give chances is ridiculous. Most of the students on here who give chances have done a lot of study on what it takes to get into the different schools, so I personally think krongman's comment is probably just sour grapes on not getting the response he wanted to his post.

As far as your chances at Rutgers, you are in the top 5% of your class and your SATs are easily within the 25% to 75% range of Rutgers students, which is around 550-650 for both SAT verbal and math. This makes you a definite "match" at Rutgers, especially as an in-state student.

Good luck.
