Not applying for fin. aid.

Anyone out there give me an idea of my chances? Thanks!

BU is need blind, so it doesn't matter that you don't need fin aid. Overall your stats are good, but you're GPA could be a little higher, of course that depends on averages in your high school that I might not know about.

Your recommendations and essay are extremely important as well. BU looks at your entire application and wants to see that you are challenging yourself and staying involved and dedicated to things you care about. We couldn't make a clear chance knowing more about what your essay and recom. are like.

Thanks for the response! I think my recs will be really, really strong and haven't thought about a topic for an essay yet.

I'm fairly certain I'd really like to study finance and accounting so would definitely like to be admitted to School of Management. Was at BU last week for an info. session and tour and was really impressed -- really want to go there even more now!

I'm doing what I can do get that GPA up but not sure if it's too late in my h.s. years to get it up much more. Will take the SATs again to try and get that writing portion up, too.

Again, thanks for your info!

Well I'm a senior in the school of management so let me know if you have any questions, I could talk about it all day. I also give tours here, wouldn't that be weird if you were on my tour? haha

Isn't that a coincidence -- we were at the 10:00 Info Session which was held in the School of Mgmt. then went on the tour afterwards. Do you like the SOM? Like BU in general? Do you think with a 3.13GPA I'd have a chance?

acronyms don't always makes sense at BU but they're used for EVERYthing here so yeah it's SMG not SOM but SOM is less counterintuitive. and yeah I think you have a great shot at being accepted into SMG. you sound like you're a junior? take this advice: hook yourself up with an internship or something business-related for experience over the summer. put in a lot of hours and show your dedication. talk about that in your essay and you'll be straight.

I second that advice. Showing real dedication to whatever you're interested in can add a boost to your application.

I do love BU in general and I think the management program is fantastic. It's different from a lot of other business programs because you aren't just taking random intro courses freshman year. You instead start with a year long course that touches on all 10 concentrations we have (ex. finance, marketing, law, international mgt). It gives you a broad overview of the school. The curriculum is designed to be cross functional and turn you into a well rounded business person.

The Cross Functional Core is probably the pride and joy of SMG. If you google it you can find a lot of information about the program. It's required for all SMG majors at BU.
