Chances at Seven Sisters and other universities?

Hello,

I made some changes to my college list and got back my ACT scores; therefore, I was wondering if my list remained realistic in regards to my stats. I was also wanted a few opinions about whether I was putting the schools into the right categories? Thanks!

UMass Amherst or U of South Carolina

Match:

Thanks for any responses!

You’re right about Bryn Mawr and Smith matches, and let’s just say that I’m not happy about having to compete against you for a space at Smith. The Seven Sisters have holistic admissions and will love your work at art museums.

I wonder if you could guess my chances at the schools I’m applying to, especially Agnes Scott and Smith. You seem to have a good grasp on LACs. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/808196-i-want-candy-colleges-change-lives-schools.html

I am not very fimiliar with the non SS colleges on your list. I think you have a good chance at the women’s colleges on your list. I commented on a few.

Wellesley: My number one too! You’re GPA is great. You ACT score is the mean for them. Have you done an interview, it will very much help.

Middlebury: they have a lower acceptance rate, even though Wellesley out ranks them! This will be tough, but again your ACT and GPA are more than acceptable.

Smith: Much easier to get into that Wellesley. Again, interview. The women’s college have the time and resources to check out their prospective students. Very good chance of getting in. It’s a great MATCH for you!

Thanks! I just wanted to add a couple of things I forgot to write down. I am white female from DC and a legacy at College of the Holy Cross. Thanks again! I really hope I get into Smith, its my first choice at the moment.

Any other opinions?

I think you’ve chanced yourself very successfully- I would take advantage Bryn Mawr’s test-flexible admissions and submit the ACT instead of your SAT, it’s a lot stronger. I’m a current student there so if you have any questions, feel free to message me! Smith will be another target, Mary Washington will definitely be a safety for you, and you can probably expect a lot of money from them. Same with UMASS-Amherst and USC, they’ll definitely want you, although those two schools are a lot larger than the other LACs you’re looking at. If you’re able to submit just your ACT to Wellesley, I think you also have a strong chance, so I would put it as a low reach; your SAT is the only thing that’s really holding you back, since you have strong ECs and an excellent class rank/GPA. If you were not looking for that specific scholarship, I would definitely put GW as a in bordering on safety. Middlebury will be a reach, though.

Good luck!

Also, just so you know- ACTs aren’t superscored.

Thanks padawank!

Also, first quarter grades are in: I received all A’s except for one -A (which I think is a mistake). Thanks again for the responses!

I am also probably applying to College of William and Mary as a reach. Is this reasonable?
