I applied ED round 2 to Skidmore, so I find out in a week but still...anything to calm my nerves.
Stats etc-
SAT: 1330 (no SAT IIs)
overall GPA: 3.4
I want to major in music (violin, jazz) so my resume is full of orchestras and other music activities. I have a decent amount of community service. I was able to get a recommendation from my jazz teacher who knows the jazz teacher at Skidmore, as well as two teacher recs and one also from a Skidmore alumni. I had an interview that I feel went really well and have visited the school several times.
I have taken an AP music theory class, advanced math courses and at least four honors courses throughout high school. I have taken 4 years of science, 3 of math, 2 of french, around 6 english classes, various music classes and at least 6 history classes.
Do I have a good chance of getting a fat white envelope in the mail next week?

I'd say you have an 87% chance of being accepted. Your GPA of 3.4 isn't remarkable, but your SAT is around the higher end for Skidmore. And your schedule should have had more honors/AP classes and preferably more years of a foreign language. But applying ED helps a great deal becasue it shows that you are serious about attending the school(I read in US News that applying early is equivalent to raising your SAT score 100 points in terms of admissions) The fact that you cared to visit campus several times and had an interview shows you interst in Skidmore, which helps a bit. The fact that you got two recs from a Skidmore alum and a person who knows a jazz teacher at Skidmore was very smart. Also, your strong committment to music activities is a big PLUS, because adcons like when you are devoted and pour you heart into a few activities instead of being a "joiner".

Best of luck...a big fat envelope in the mailbox is highly likely...

Thanks for your input. I hope your prediction is correct!

Oh, by the way, when I said 87% chance that you'd get into Skidmore, it was just a * gut* feeling, I didn't plug your stats into some sort of mathematical formula, lol. Strong EC's, alumni connections, and demonstrated interest can definetely override the low GPA.

i would say that it would be unprecedented for you to be rejected. acceptance = exceptionally likely.

glux girr

a pleasure

i applied to brown? I hear its a good school.

Thoughts on acceptance?

i think you have a very good chance at skidmore.. my friend was accepted ED I with a 3.67 UW and 1350 SAT - she was very involved in the arts, but in theater.

i hear its a good enough school.
you should get in.
if not, have you considered culinary schools?

thanks, i hope i get in-letters sent today!
