*I think I'm a first generation college student (my mom went to college for less than a semester because she was pregnant)
* Need Fin Aid because I have 4 siblings and $75,000 Income

Wow, you've done very well. Congratulations!

At this point don't worry too much about the finances becuase your parents will have to fill out the FAFSA and this will tell you how much they should have to pay to go to college. Most good schools will find a way to get the rest. Don'y be shocked when youget the amount because it will be higher than you ezpect. There are other ways to get money such as jobs at the school, and student loans that you do not haveto pay back until you are out of college.

I think you should apply to all the schools on your list. If you're worry about the $$ concentrate on the ones closest to your home.

Good luck, you're doing great and you'll be very happy where you end up.

You've got a very good list there. Realistic mix of reaches, matches, and safeties. If only everyone on CC were as level-headed as you...

I think you're probably in at Colby & Bates. I got into Colby with comparable stats, and I definitely know of people attending who don't have as good a profile as you =P. (And usually, USUALLY when you're in at Colby you're in at Bates.)

Your list seems pretty good, Middlebury and Vassar are obviously the most likely to reject you.

thanks guys.............

I don't want to hear from Firefox...........lol

Any other opinions?

bumppp

Franklin and Marshall may be the 'best' school that I can see you getting into. I just don't see Vassar/Middlebury/Colby jumping at you. MAYBE Bates.

oh i forgot, how about...

Skidmore College and Wheaton (Massachusetts)

Bates is a little more selective than Colby, but you seem like a very strong student and I think you have a fair shot at both. Emphasize your central "passion" in your application, because it's not necessarily clear through your activities. You have decent SAT scores, but many students applying to Middlebury and Vassar have better (although it's ridiculous that this should even be a problem because anything about a 650 is excellent, but that's how admissions seems to work). Your matches look great and I think you'll be fine! Good luck!

for the last time...any other opinions?

being a male will help you at most of the LACs

haha it's weird that being a white male from long island could actually help me

Vassar will like you because you're male. If you're REALLY serious about the school, applying ED would probably give you an excellent chance of getting in.

My DD with what I thought were good stats ( 2010SAT, 710V,600M( weak in math),7100W with 11 on Essay, Top 5%,GPA of 95 all honors or AP's, excellent recs and essays ( I read them) and great EC's...2 sports all 4 years plus played them in offseason leagues, class officer, many clubs..officers, etc and volunteer work, and worked PT job 16hrs a week got accepted into 8 and waitlisted into 3. All lot of her top schools award merit money with SAT scores of 1400 (M,V) and above

Accepted ....F&M...7K merit $$...their top merit is 12K

G'burg...8,500K merit$$..their top is 13,500K
Loyola(MD) 8,250 merit $$ unsure of top merit

Syracuse newhouse.., Lafayette, Suny Bing,Villanova and Boston College

Waitlisted at Conn college, Hamilton and Bucknell ( declined the W/L as it was hard enough to choose)

Going to BC...the merit $ wasn't big enuf to lure her from BC...we don't qualify for need aid.

Her best friend was accepted ED2 to Hamilton with much lesser academic stats..., less sports but with better EC's...mock trial, peer leadership plus she had an interview and sleepover.

We visited all the colleges save for Conn, and interviewed at Gburg, Fand M, Lafayette and Syracuse. and overnited at Gburg

Definitely show interest and try to overnite as many schools as u can. I wouldn't apply ED as financial aid is a factor... but you will surely get into a very good college and receive merit money from some of them

Also thru your school and community there are probably many one time awards/scholarships that you can qualify... Look into the NYS lottery scholarship for leaders of tommorrow...its about 1,500 annual award to one kid from every HS in NY...you hafta apply thru your guidance counselor. Every little bit helps!!!

thanks...and i enjoy your username
