Hey everyone! I just wanted your opinions on whether or not I could get into the following schools: UT, A&M, Rice, UNT, and Baylor. thanks!

Hispanic male from South TX, I'm currently a junior,
first in my family to go to college
SAT- 1250, going to take the new version this saturday
AP English 3 & 4, AP US History and Government, DE(dual enrollment) Biology, DE Music Theory, AP Calculus
GPA- 9th- 2.8 10th- 3.0 11th- 3.9
Foreign Language- German I and II, only ones offered at my school
EC-
Band. 4 years, section leader 10th and 11th grades, drum major of the band senior year. Freshman year- made it to the region freshman band. Sophomore year- made it to the high school all-region and didn't advance anymore. junior year- advanced up to the area level of competition, missed all-state by one point. senior year- member of the texas all-state band. (got better every year).

volunteered at local hospital summer of 10th grade. This coming summer I plan to attend a drum major camp and a marching camp. I'm also going to be working this summer.

any help would be greatly appreciated... thx!

You can definitely get into UT,A&M, Baylor, but Rice would be a far reach for you, as your SAT is almost 200 points below the median there.

I agree ............

Add a third. You can definately get in to those. I doubt you'll get into Rice.

I don't recommend going to Baylor unless you're conservative/christian or don't mind that athmosphere.

thanks for your opinions! My first choice is actually UT. Does anyone know if the top 10% rule has or will change?

It was on the news recently I heard it. They are in court looking at repealing the rule because it is filling up a huge percentage of their admissions with people they don't want.

RJ- you have a few things that would appeal to Rice- i.e you are an URM and the first in your family to go to college. That could help you at Rice, so don't write it off.
