Making a much simpler thread. I've chosen UMCP as the school I'm most interested in. These stats will, of course, be contingent upon me actually following through with the plan i've set up for myself but I'd like to be chanced as

a 2015 spring semester transfer (second semester of my sophomore year, although I will have junior credits -- I expect several not to transfer)

My advisor thinks that as long as I am in-state with a 3.4+ and my other qualities I should be admitted, my only serious drawback is my low level of math.

Applying in-state to UMCP.
-High School-
2.8UW (4~ Weighted -- my course load was very difficult, my work ethic failed me a lot of the times. I ended up transferring 14 credits, all with 5s. I attended a high school definitely regarded as top 10 in Maryland (public school))
2k+ on my SATs (have to look up the exact number, I want to say close to 2150)

-College-
3.8 GPA (4.0 in Comp Sci related courses)
About 55 credits completed at the time of transferring.

My drawback is math. I entered university was the developmental math level (a bit undeserved, didn't have a calculator for the entrance exam which included higher levels of math I didn't take in high school) and then after that there's no way to get out of the course so I had to spend a semester in remedial math.

I plan to really focus on math-related courses. I understand many people going to UMCP walk in at the calculus level. I believe by transfer time I should be able to get there.

Stuff about me:
White Male

Maryland resident

First generation college student (one parent completed HS, one didn't)

Began working for my University's IT department this semester, doing very well. Was invited to work full time over the summer. I expect to return and continue working for the University every semester and intersession until transfer time (possibly picking up some industry work experience next year, hopefully)

I've done some philanthropy events and will continue to do them such as Relay for Life and other work around the community.

I will be tutoring 100 and 200 level comp sci courses beginning next semester.

I have a year of work experience prior to college (a waiter in a retirement home, actually met many alumni of maryland colleges, successful business men, etc. Most importantly my manager will vouch I did good work etc etc there for about a year)

I expect recommendation letters from my manager for my University job, my job prior to high school, my computer science professors, and my high school teacher (that instructed IT courses).

Chance me at UMCP!
