I am a California resident and want to stay in California. I'm Filipino so I guess I count as Asian. So tell me, what are my chances?

how many ap courses did you take in sophomore and junior year? only 3? then how did you weighted gpa go from 3.9 to 4.3? otherwise, im pretty sure you can get into ucsd at least (stanford and berkeley usually want higher sat scores, but your act score is pretty good!)

I had honors English and honors modern world history sophomore year. Then the three AP courses my junior year.

is your english honors uc approved? because i know most schools that do have honors english, but it doesn’t count as honors for uc’s. im not sure about mwh, but you should check to make sure.

I’m pretty sure it is. I’m giving the UC GPA that my counsellor gave me and he’s pretty knowledgable on everything.

Honors English in sophomore year is not weighted on the UC website I think. Honors English 11th grade is though. Anyways, I agree with harrypotter. You should get into UCSD at least because of your GPA, decent SAT, and decent ECs (leadership :D) However, the top 2 UCs look at course rigor a lot and 3 APs seems like very little. Otherwise, I’d say you are basically in at all the UCs besides for UCLA and UCB, and those two you should have a great shot at. Check the UC website again and see if those courses you mentioned are weighted. Good luck to you!

Thanks for the insight. Anyone else?

course rigor is considered, but, ultimately, the amount of APs/honors a student can take is highly dependent on the school he attends. a better determinant for relative success is through ranking; he is within the top 5 percent which is a very good sign, with respect to the UCs. also, the counselor is usually right.

high reach (hardest) to low safety (easiest) - 9 levels.

Stanford University - reach
UCB - low reach/high match
UCLA - high match
UCSD - low match (pretty sure UCSD biochem is impacted)
UC Davis - high safety
UCI - safety/low safety

Thanks red. I was hoping to take more honors/ap classes sophomore/junior year but my schedule wouldn’t allow it. That’s why classes like AP Chemistry and AP Gov/Econ aren’t taken. I had to take them at the local community college and just be fine with college prep chem.
