Recs & Essays: All great.

So I'm applying EA to Stanford for Computer Science and then RD to the following:

Cornell
WashU
Michigan
Northwestern
Rochester
RPI
MIT
Princeton
CMU

Please chance me. I'll chance you back

Also, National Merit Semifinalist and AP Scholar with Distinction :D

Hispanic with those stats = in at all those schools

You’re also probably set with a good chunk scholarship at those places… Congrats!

And btw what s&d event do you compete in?

Haha, I do duo, oratory, and oi. do you do s&d?

Thank you to you both by the way for those predictions :)

haha yeah. i do ld and pufo though. oo was my first-ever event freshman year. good times lol.

yale invitational? i haven’t heard of it before. but my knowledge isn’t wide on national tournaments. how many competitors? other than emory (barkley forum), wake forest, duke, glenbrooks, and toc i know of no others

and i feel dumb for not mentioning harvard

Yea, Yale is the first nat tournament of the year. it’s a bit better known for interp. But there are like 40-50 competitors in duo and like 70-80 in the rest. I go to emory, harvard, glenbrooks, etc…

[The Yale Invitational About The Tournament](http://yale.tabroom.com/about/)

check. you’re basically set for all of those schools. the s&d just gives them 10X more reason to take you. i’d pick MIT for your field though, if you plan on that major. i think its EA, why don’t you go for it?..and do some other EA schools. b/c stanford is restricting. unless of course that is your dream school, in which case go for it

i’m thinking duke myself though, though i might consider northwestern or uchicago if i get accepted. duke has to take 20% of residents from the Carolina states so that should def get me in. i think our school has 30/500 get accepted every year? maybe…if not def 20-25 some.

but seriously, sick stats! :)

Haha, thanks so much. the only thing i’m really concerned about is not sending sat subject tests to stanford. I hope that they don’t look down on it. they say they recommend it but it’s not required. hopefully they’ll accept my act scores as representative of my knowledge of those subjects.

Bumpp :). ();

Bump (10 char).

Judging by the Extracurriculars and Grades alone, as a hispanic (even if you weren’t), you’d have a good chance at Stanford/MIT/Princeton. However, I’m just going to put it out there that Stanford in particular weighs essays and personality a lot more than the numbers/resume. If you really think you conveyed your personality and interests in an original way in your essays, then you’re probably in great shape, but it never hurts to be skeptical (I had rehearsed exactly how the rest of my weekend would play out after I got rejected from Stanford EA, only to be accepted)
