Chances at Stanford Early Action

O.K. Straight up... I am black... but I don't think its the reason why I should get into Stanford. I live in an all white area and have been friends with mostly whites all my life. I go to private school and pay full tuition. I do not sports. Now since that is out of the way, lets get to my chances. :-D

SAT: 740V, 790M, 800W
SAT II: 800 Math IIc, 780 Chemistry, 760 U.S. History
4 A.P.s taken
A.P. U.S. History-5
Chemistry-5
B.C. Calc-5 (A.B. sub 5)
Language- 4 (eep, i was sad)
Taking I.S. Stanford E.P.G.Y. Physics this year, A for first quarter. Also taking A.P. Euro, A.P. Stat, and A.P. Lit.

Rank in class: 2 of 78 (private, so its a bit harder, plus i don't take A.P. Art, which the number 1 also has taken 4 of conveniently)

Awards: Georgia Governor Honors Program in Math, National Merit Semi, National Achievemnt Semi( and I don't actually agree with the organization), 1st place speaker and pairing region debate, 3rd speaker and pairing state debate, literary 2nd argument essay region, 5th in state. AMC 122, AIME 4. Every math, science, and English award at my school high GPA. Semi finalist at GATECH Math Comp (state comp (top 20 of about 400)), top 30 of 300 at UGA comp. 2nd region and 2nd state at One Act Play. Other stuff mostly on the state level, not many national. Tons of others at school.

Clubs: Policy Debate 4 year (started team at my school), Literary Arg essay, One Act Play, Gavel Club, Math Team (captain), NHS, Beta (3rd in service per student in the country), News Crew, Studdy Buddy School Tutoring, and a few others that don't pop at me now but they are not that important.

My essays were pretty good, and my teachers think I am pretty smart.
I think I am pretty competative, but what I fear the most is that if I get in people will think it is because I am black, but its not. I actually try hard and for all yawll who think that black people use there blackness to get extra things, I never participate in any organization or scholarships that excludes other races (I believe the boat should go both ways), and really I am not black as much as I am Jamaican American. My parents went to college so I am not first generation either. I am still pretty scared about the process and pray that I will get in. Please tell me my chances!!! I will know in 6 days for sure so this can't hurt ( I was scared to death to do this earlier... I might not have even applied).

Thanks...

And if there is other info I am supposed to put, I am sorry. I am relatively new to this thread stuff. :=D

I think you are in.

Well done, you have a better than average chance.

You have a very good chance of getting accepted in my opinion. Good Luck!

Hey, you'd have a great shot with those excellent stats and good ECs even without URM. Bon chance!

Your in no sweat

At just your credentials, I'd say you'd probably get in. Your race just seals the deal.

Stanford: Match

ur in niga

haha wow droppin n-bombs

I think diversity on campus is what the colleges are looking for. This means they are looking for people of all backgrounds - whether ethnically or financially. What I mean by this is it isn't like Stanford only wants poor African Americans.

You are one of the top students in the country. Stanford should want you regardless of race, but, because of race, your odds are very very high.

I just want to say thanks to all for telling me my chances. Your comments will help the next five (or less) days less strenuous for me.

You are in. You're qualified without being black, but most students that are qualified don't get in. Your race, however guarantees you a spot.
