Chances at Stanford, Georgetown SFS etc.

Thanks for all the responses - I didn't think anyone would post again because this thread had been buried for a long time... Historically speaking, based off past Stanford acceptances from my school I probably stand not too much of a chance (Test scores pretty much on target, GPA not so much) but I'm very familiar with how Stanford can be a tad arbitrary/looking more for a sort of 'commitment' than other things though all the applicants from my school with a certain GPA and test score combination on the SAT I were accepted last year (our GCs have this book of charts on acceptances with weighted GPAs and SAT I scores).

On another note, I probably am not submitting the Chinese SAT II score (though those things stick around on the College Board report as far as I know) in favor of Bio...

I'd have to agree with you Saber (although I didn't apply to Stanford-i mean c'mon--it's in palo alto for one eh). I'm guessing (my cousin was accepted like 15 years ago haha) that they don't like a "laundry-list" of ec & everyone who applies is academically "perfect." So you need something to make you stand out--like starting up an environmental association, collecting millions for some rainforest eh.

Also college admissions are weird--my friend got rejected to Berkeley, but accepted to U Penn. He did apply to engineering, so that might have factored in........So expect anything, especially with schools that know that they're "prestigious"--like Stanford.
