I'll Chance Back!

bump…??

I’d say that your chances are higher than most, but obviously not perfect (as no one is). I actually have pretty similar stats to you. I’d say you’ll probably get into most of them if not all. Your GPA is really good and your SAT is godly. I’d say MIT is your biggest reach though. Other than that, you seem great. Chance me please?

What is academic superbowl? Is this another name for real quiz bowl, or is it fake quiz bowl masquerading as real quiz bowl?
What kinds of questions did you use? NAQT? HSAPQ? Chip Beal?

metaphy6, it is a competition exclusive to Indiana, questions are based on discovery’s from certain time periods

thanks brian, I wouldn’t say its godly by any means, though

your stats are pretty good overal - your ECs are pretty overwhelming (maybe focus on your key stuff rather than enumerate everything you possibly could have done in the last 4 years), your SATs are great (but pretty avg for Asians/Indians), GPA needs some improvement (but it’s not bad by any stretch)
if i had to chance you, then…
Stanford (waitlisted)
Harvard (rejected)
MIT (accepted)
UPenn (accepted)

^Those chances make no sense. MIT, UPenn’s M&t program, and Stanford are no easier to get into than Harvard

i didnt think so either, astonmartin, check out the guys posts though…

I think your chances are extremely strong for all those schools–lots of leadership, awards, etc.

you have a great chance! im pretty sure you’ll make all of the schools chance me back please!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1026512-chance-pleaseeee-d.html

refutation:

 1. harvard’s not looking for engineers
 2. his 2280 is more within the stanford range than harvard range, but it’s still iffy
 3. since he wants to be an engineer and his scores are generally very good, MIT would want to fill its class with people like him
 4. UPenn is easy to get into with those stats (for any program at UPenn)…

What the hell? Harvard does have a college of engineering, which is a top 30 college. If a qualified engineering applicant applies to Harvard, why will they reject him/her?

And M&T at Penn is very hard to get into. They take 50 kids every year. I have read about people choosing M&T over MIT.

^^ Harvard actually does not have a college of engineering. It is part of the College.

But yes M&T is definitely extremely difficult to get into. I think OP has a decent and better-than-average shot at those schools. I guess we’ll see in April?

I stand by what I said, but, guys… geeez no need to get all worked up over everything

You’ll notice that people will get “worked up” when you try to sound authoritative but are just objectively wrong.

haha hopefully guys, i got to siemens nationals, so yeah hopefully that boosts me in

LOL
HI MR. NARAYAN.

Sincerely,
-the guy who was across from your room, but was not indian. xD

hahahahhahahahahhahahahahh gaRCia

I know you have been lambasted allready, but honestly, people spreading misinformation makes me so mad.

1) …What?
2) Pretty sure a 35 is not iffy…nor is a 2280.
3) You would no this…how?
4) HAHAHAHA wow you are seriously misinformed—M&T is arguably as selective as HYPSM.
